Works great!
I've had absolutely no problems with this bottle leaking (as others have) as long as I fill it completely up and create a seal by turning it right side down after filling the bottle and letting any air bubbles rise to the top, and then tapping the ball a few times. It usually drips maybe five times and then stops. The very first time I filled it, it did drip quite a few times more and I was worried, but since then it's not dripped at all after the initial couple drips. There are more detailed instructions on how to use it on the Lixit website, also.It did take my dog about a week or so to start using the water bottle. We put peanut butter on the spout to entice her. It took a couple times, but now she uses it while she is in her kennel during the day, quite often. The 16 ounce bottle is the perfect size for our 15 pound miniature schnauzer. She goes through about a quarter of the water this bottle holds during her time in her kennel while we are at work. She even will use the water bottle even if she doesn't need to be in her kennel sometimes. It must "taste different" or be "better water" than the water in her bowl. Ha!I would not hesitate to recommend this product to anyone.

Cap continuously fell off!! (faulty unit maybe??)
Well, against all bad reviews, I decided to go out on a limb and try this product. I was looking for something to give my shepherd puppy water in her pen while I am away, but I needed something that didn't allow her to gulp it down quickly. This seemed like the perfect solution! Well, as soon as the package was delivered, I opened it to set it up in her pen. I followed the directions to a T (filling up completely with room temp water), but when I started to tighten the cap on to turn it over, it wouldn't tighten!! It would reach a point of resistance so I would continue to twist it to make sure it was as tight as it could be, then it would loosen again! So I tightened it to where it was at least pretty tight, but not coming off, and when I flipped it over, the cap fell off---water everywhere!! So I tried taking the rubber gasket out, and that helped in the matter of I was able to tighten it fully without the cap coming off, but it leaked everywhere because the gasket wasn't in there. Even then, when I placed it on the side of the pen, it would fall off, just by slightly bumping the pen. Point of the matter is, the gasket was too thick, so the cap couldn't screw on properly. Again, I followed the directions to a T, even watched youtube videos and read "Lixit's" FAQ page, but to no avail. I have already printed the label to return it and am debating on whether to order another one or not... I'm hoping it was just a bad unit, but the other reviews aren't making that too likely! (Will update if I purchase a new one)

If doggie is happy everbody is happy
I bought this to attach to the outside of my dog's crate as he has to be left in it for extentend amounts of time while I am at work (he is a puupy and learning potty training) and I worry about dehydration. The first couple of days, I don't think he used it much as there was not much if any gone from the container. I don't think he knew to because I didn't really actively try to show him what it was and what it did. But after those inital days, he has used it quite a bit and he discovered this on his own.The bottle is easy to use. You have to fill it to the top to create a vacuum in order for it to work properly or so the directions say. The size was perfect for him and the contents have lasted several days without needing to be refreshed. Because he is a puppy and I don't want him drinkning too much (because then he will need to pee more) I think this bottle is perfect. In fact a smaller one would be fine if you dont mind filling it more frequently. It does not leak (if filled properly) but did leak a little as I was securing it to the cage beacause it is basically strapped into place (with an included metal spring cord and clips) and I had to squeeze it a bit to get the cord secured around it.All in all a greatand useful purchase!

Great water bottle for your dog's kennel!
Great water bottle for your dog's kennel. It really doesn't leak! A few drops dribbled out when I initially set it up, but after that the only water that comes out is when my dog taps the nozzle with his tongue.I was a little concerned that my dog would not be able to figure it out, as he is used to drinking out of a bowl, but he picked it up very quickly! I put him in his kennel and turned him to face the water bottle. I then tapped the nozzle a few times for water to come out and held my finger to his mouth. He got it right away! Also, I know some of the leak proof bottles are hard for some of the smaller dogs to get water out of, but this one was just right for my miniature schnauzer. I think it would work fine for any small dog. If you have a medium to large size dog, though, you may want to get a bigger bottle. The only downside for me is the way it attaches to the kennel. I wish it had a better system that was easier to use. It just has a metal spring with clips on the sides that goes around the bottle and holds it to the kennel.Overall, though, I think it is a great product! I will probably be getting another one for his other kennel.

Great bottle for dogs!
This bottle was a replacement for one just like it in which I cut a hole in the top to make it easily refillable while not removing from crate. That was a mistake I made because the design does not work if it has a hole in the top! The water just pours out if you try to alter it. The best thing about it is how sturdy it is (it even took me a good while to cut trough the last one! haha) and how fat the lick tip is for a dog. I hated the smaller guinea pig sized tips for my pup and this one has the nice fat end on it that he loves. I wish it could have an easy open top for easy refill but those kind have a different valve on the water delivery part. Those kind are harder for a dog to get water from. This is the kind that is easy to lick and sip from while being a very good quality. I highly recommend for dog use over any other.
