Intimate And Stunning Performance
Of all the filmed concert performances of David Bowie, this film made me feel, more than any other, a sense of intimacy with David Bowie, like I got to know him a little and what he was really like. Much of the film is shot with prolonged close-ups of David, and there are many extended shots from various positions on the stage that make you feel that you are right there in the thick of things. The film is shot beautifully, and the sound quality is excellent. David’s passion, and absolute dedication to his art, really shines through. The band is spectacular as well: Mike Garson, Earl Slick, Gail Ann Dorsey, Sterling Campbell, Mark Plati, the back-up singers, Holly Palmer and Emm Gryner, all are spot on. Earl Slick’s guitar is particularly searing. The sophistication and quality of the band are beyond dispute. One part of the film was surprising and perhaps will make you smile: during the song, Let’s Dance, David pulls out a cigarette, and the camera follows him around the stage dancing, playing to the crowd and smoking, and, amusingly, looking somewhat like a Lounge Lizzard! It’s like David finally broke down and had that cigarette, especially while performing his nemesis, Let’s Dance. As many Bowie fans may know, David had refused to play his greatest hits live for many years, and Glastonbury was his first airing of the hits, for the most part, in a very long time. Perhaps the cigarette helped David get through it, but the performance of Let’s Dance was absolutely hard-edged and stunning, one of the stand-outs of the concert. Other stand-outs for me were Golden Years (which I have never seen David perform live), Hallo Spaceboy, Stay, Station To Station, All The Young Dudes, Heroes, Absolute Beginners and Ashes To Ashes. This release is a must-have for any David Bowie fan.

A VERY SPECIAL RELEASE
Fantastic performance! If you Love Bowie you will Love this gem. I had this thing in my Amazon cart for a few days. I could not make up my mind whether to pay my $23.00 as I had just purchased the also excellent WELCOME TO THE BLACKOUT (a nice bookend to STAGE). I also already had DAVID LIVE and LIVE A NASSAU COLOSSEUM. Those are all wonderful shows. This is the best of the lot. It's special. After the sparse WELCOME TO THE BLACKOUT package I was not expecting much. I was mistaken. This is presented in a hard clam-shell box. It includes a wonderful booklet with excerpts from Bowie's journal about preparation for this festival and a column from an entertainment writer. The CD portion is in its own gatefold and includes inside sleeves (like the ol' Lp days). The DVD is also presented in its own gatefold. YOU WANT TO PURCHASE THIS!

Great concert!
All in all fantastic show. Some things to keep in mind when buying this is he does state before he does life on Mars that he was struck with laringitus earlier that week. So you can tell it is kinda tricky for him to go high for some songs but he still sounds really great. Very fun experience tho when I compare this to the tour 4 years later a reality tour, it is definitely more fun to watch this one due to the lack of visual effects on the camera but obviously he sounds a lot better in a reality tour due to lack of laringitus. Great songs and fun stories in between a few. Any David Bowie fan does need to own this concert, very fun to watch.

I Love This Bowie @Glastonbury 2000 Box Set!!
I am sooo happy the directors kept recording after the 1st few songs they agreed on before the show ..... Or WE WOULD NOT HAVE THIS MASTERPIECE OF DAVID BOWIES WORK. I want to thank them for recording all of This Show..I Absolutely Love This Box Set.David Really Got into this show and It shows!I ordered the box set with 2 Cds and the DVD. Just another perfect live set...
A fine capturing of Bowie coming out of the 90s and giving spirited voice to his deep and varied catalog. All the faves and some "newer" songs he feels we should love too. The DVD is the real reason I got this collection and its a mesmerizing show to watch. "Stages" is still my favorite live collection, but Gastonbury 2000 brings joy when you pick it up.

Great DVD concert. Not sure how I missed this one
I have many concerts of Bowie on DVD but I missed this one. I didn't realize the 3 disc set included a DVD live performance of his Glastonbury show. Great sound and picture quality. Good selection of songs that I didn't have concert footage of previously. Well worth the cost for the DVD plus getting the 2 audio CDs is a bonus. I greatly enjoyed this show.

Great CD/DVD but Bowie would not like the packaging or lack of digital data on the CDs
The concert was wonderful! The recording of the CDs and DVD are fine. I do have 2 problems though. One is the packaging which is cardboard sleeves that are hard to get in and out of the cardboard box. The other would really make Bowie upset I think. David Bowie was one of the first artists to take advantage of the capabilities of the digital age. I remember his CDs were some of the first to feature the display of the name of each song on the CD player. Today, everyone has a picture of the album, the album name and the song name displayed on the digital device. Not this product! No picture, and no song listing. Just Track 1, Track 2, etc. Not a fitting tribute. How difficult would that have been? Despite these flaws, I really enjoyed watching and listening to this wonderful performance by one of the worlds greatest artists.
