Bought this item for my daughter science project and it was a great collection of rocks and description of each. It made his project quite easy for us and we learned a lot from it.

The kit supposedly contains a sample of pumice rock. Pumice rock is light-colored and has lots of air pockets that cause it to float on water. However, the sample of "pumice" included in this kit is dark-colored and sinks when placed in water. Thus, there's no way it's real pumice rock. More likely it's scoria rock, which is often confused with pumice but does not float.That said, it's still good enough for classroom purposes and I doubt most students would even notice some of the samples are fake substitutes. And contrary to what other reviews said, all the samples in the 10 boxes I ordered had the diameter between a nickle and quarter.
