These types of clocks seem to be over priced, imo, since they are generally a necessity, however this was the least expensive day/date clock I found. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. The instructions are easy and the clock was correct when I plugged it in so I didn't have to set anything other than the brightness. Love that there are no batteries to change. I ordered the blue- 12 inch and it is crisp and easy to read across my 92 yr old great aunts nursing home room and doesn't look out of place with her antiques. My aunt has started using her day planner again because she knows the day/date with a glance at this clock. She has a small clock and a tv channel that displays the day/date but she forgets to access them even with notes on the tv. This clock can't be missed. I highly recommend it and know it makes my aunt feel more engaged in her life.

I really like this digital clock and have had a few compliments from elderly people like myself, concerning its blue display. In each case, I told them I ordered it through Amazon. One improvement I would like to have added to the display is that the seconds be added, and the am/pm indicators be proportionately brightened. The size of 12" is adequate, and the fact one can dim the display is a plus. It also acts as a night lite without being overly intrusive. The clock is ideal for aging people as its easy to learn the day, date, and time all at a glance. I now have two for those places I normally frequent. Not sure as yet if having it be an alarm or radio would be cost effective. thank you!

The clock looks as described, had a nice long and very thin (therefore less visible) cord which easily reached from high on the wall to the outlet near the floor. It looks very nice on the brick between 2 windows. At first the lowest brightness setting was enough, but when the sun began to stream through those windows we were glad to have options, and the medium brightness ended up being the best choice. The smallest (12") clock is plenty big enough to be easily read across the entire apartment. The blue display is easily seen but not intrusive. I withheld one star because the day/date in dot matrix is not as easily read as the numbers for the time, and the light under the a.m./p.m. indicator is hard to see. Still, my 89 y/o dad, who has memory issues, really likes his new clock, and he adapted to the dots fairly easily.

I bought this clock in spring 2014 for my elderly mother. The bright display worked great for her aging eyes. However, when we needed to change the time an hour forward last fall due to daylight savings time, we were unable to do so -- the reset buttons would no longer work. Thus, we had to retire the clock. We tried another time/day/date clock that she could not see well. Finally she asked me to purchase another one of these, which I did last night. The clock arrived this morning -- which was great -- but when I was setting the time the day changed from SAT (correct) to TUES and would not allow me to change it back. When I press the A button as instructed, the day field does not blink/allow changing. Now the clock is in her room displaying the correct time and date but incorrect day, which will confuse her. I had purchased the Square Trade Warranty, but the defect should still be covered by Amazon/manufacturer. I just want a replacement with the Square Trade warranty applied to the replacement. Unfortunately Amazon's automated return/replace process only gave the choice of return/refund. I had to submit the request and then email Amazon asking for a replacement (rather than refund) and to have the extended warranty applied to the replacement. I hope they are able to do so, because my mother really likes the clock -- it's easy for her to read. BTW, the clock I received is a little different from the original clock, which was apparently an older model. The new clock has a silver (rather than black) frame and allows the display to be dimmed. But mom likes the bright display because she can see it better.

Bought this for my 89 year old father who had mentioned that he was finding it difficult to keep track of the days of the week now that he's in an assisted living facility. He wears a watch, but the date is so small and there's no day of the week on it. so I thought this might help. At first he (and I) thought it was going to be too big for the little desk...it's 12" wide...but after a couple of days he decided he really likes it because he can see it easily from across the room, and even from his bed in the next room. It's easy to dim the display; I set it on medium and it's not too bright at night with the blue display. It's not real bulky, the cord snaps into a little groove on the back to keep it neat, and it was very easy to set the date. All in all, this is one of the best things I've been able to find for him that doesn't scream "Old Person's Thing". He's happy with it, so I'm happy with it. Well worth the price -- which was a lot cheaper than the clocks marketed for people with memory problems.

Although I twice received the wrong clock, I appreciate that Ivation customer service worked with me to correct the error. I am extremely pleased with the correct clock that I finally received. While I agree with some reviewers that the LEDs are piercingly bright, with no provision to dim them, for my intended site in my living room, the brightness is not a problem and adds to the striking modernity and aesthetic appeal of the clock. Potential customers should be aware that Ivation sells two similar but different clocks: one with aluminum-silver frame and rounded corners. The one I wanted and finally received has a black frame and square corners, as pictured and described on the Amazon website. If you don't care which one you receive, you will probably get the one with the aluminum-silver frame and rounded corners rather than the one pictured. I am told that the pictured one has been discontinued, which is too bad, as it is the one I liked. But I am grateful to have received what I wanted, even if there might be no more of them for sale.
