Loved it!
I absolutely loved this book! Niccolo is Christine's stepfather and her professor, so their relationship should be completely taboo. I think it works because there isn't a huge age gap. Even though he was married to Christine's mother, he was a good bit younger than her. There is great chemistry between the main characters. I can't wait for the next book in the series featuring Jackson and Carrie and I hope that all of Niccolo's brothers get their own books.I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Not what it seems
I was expecting a student, teacher romance, but instead it is a Mafia romance with more violence than steam.Christine is a student and her late mother's second husband is her professor. Her stepfather has lusted after her since she was sixteen, now she is eighteen, he is ardent in his attention. Sadly, as she begins to fall for him, her mother's brother sets her up to marry someone else. It's not a bad story, as long as continuity faults don't bother you, but it wasn't quite what I expected.

Not so dark
Ok, so this story was unusual in the way it started out with great promise of some dark and dirty goings on between a step father professor and his young student step daughter. But then it quickly turned into a rather banal mafiaeseque type story that shed it's dark and dirty veneer in favour of inter family bickering and ridiculous violence. It really felt like someone had written two or three separate stories and then managed to meld them together into this novel. The knock on effect was, for me, confusion and disappointment. In short the story promised one thing and delivered another.I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Enjoyed this one
This book is definitely better than the first one. Stepfather/teacher/mafia what a mix. The story is intertwined with the first book but focuses on the Nic and Chris so if you didn't read the first one, this still makes sense.Liked the characters and the story is written well.

Dark taboo romance
Holy crap I absolutely loved this book. This book surprised me in the sense that I thought I knew how it was going to go but it leads us through the struggles and realisation between both Christine and Niccolo, their relationship was one of growth and instant, holy moly chemistry which burned off the pages, add into this the struggles of an arranged marriage.Niccolo is pure alpha and does not hold back how he feels and what he wants, which I just absolutely love. He is willing to do whatever needs to be done to protect the woman that he loves even if it that means going back into the family business.I love how Christine tries to keep her distance and independence from Niccolo but all she does is draw him closer in.I love our side characters of Niccolo’s brothers and of course Chrstine’s BFF.This story pulls you in from the start and is an instant page turner making you want more. As always Cora Kent at her best. This book is:Step-father/Step-daughterAge GapProfessor and student

Forbidden romance /mafia page turner
TropesForbidden romance (step daughter - step father)MafiaProfessor - StudentPlotThis is Niccolo and Christine's story. Niccolo is part of a mafia family but chooses to remain out of the action, his actual job being a professor of psychology. He was forced to marry Christine's mother in a marriage of convenience, when Christine was 13 years old. When her mother dies a couple of years later Christine is left in the care of Niccolo. Nothing happened between them whilst she was a minor, this is not a grooming situation. She then goes away to Blackmore University where Niccolo is a professor and she just happens to be a student of his. At first she is resistant to him but soon realises that she likes him too. There was a few twists along the way with some interesting, morally grey side characters too.My OpinionI did enjoy Christine and Niccolo's story however I thought the forbidden element that was present at the start of the story quickly faded into more of a mafia storyline. Nonetheless, I did like the drama that created and the ending was fun. It can be read as a stand alone but there definitely was some spoilers if you hadn't read the first book.Rating🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟🌶 🌶 🌶Trigger warningsGraphic violence against a woman and another side character.Dubious breeding consentSpankingDaddy talk.I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

An amazing book!
Dark Obession is a Dark/Bully/Taboo College romance which makes you not want to put it down. The main taboo troupes are Stepfather/Stepdaughter & Teacher/Student relationship. This book also gave me some mafia vibes too!The story of Niccolo and Chris runs parallel and continues on from the previous book (Cruel Intentions) and answers some of the questions that you would have had about them. This book delves into the lines between a stepfamily dynamic and how these can blur and change.Niccolo has protector vibes with a good hint of touch her and die. You also see how sometimes you can change completely for the person you love including your fundamental beliefs.I love the way in which the struggle for Chris is written, you really feel like you can understand her even if you have never been in that situation yourself.I really enjoyed how the story progressed with them and I would love to see more on how both of the main characters in both books progress. This book has some dark elements and trigger warnings but Cora Kent has handled/wrote them brilliantly.
