The Freedom from Depression Workbook (Minirth Meier New Life Clinic Series)

Excellent book all around. I usually do not like these workbooks. I saw this one laying around and was hooked. Loads of good information. Questionnaires are very, very helpful.Highly recommend this!

I lead a group on depression management and joy and use this book along with readings from Psalms, Proverbs and the Gospels. It is very helpful for those in groups tonshare their stories as les carter puts in perspective our sorrows, trials and medical issues. This book and workbook narrows down the complicated process of occasional or constant depression. It explains what it is, how individuals become ill with the disease, and most of all identifying your particular type of depression. There are many work pages who explain, diagnosis, and offer the kind of help you need.

I have dealt with my problems for an extended time and I know much more then the basics. This book however is a really good book for someone who finds themselves clinically depressed or depressed otherwise. It covers most of what one needs to know for basic depression. It has great ideas and exercises in it if carried out can in my opinion along with help from a professional make a real difference. It gives you ideas on how to help yourself during a time most individuals are at a loss for what to do and how to handle things. I am going to add on a personal note, if you are thinking of hurting yourself or anyone else or have thoughts of suicide, I would not solely rely on this workbook. I believe at that stage you need to seek outside help, like a mental health care professional. All thoughts of suicide one may have should be taken serious and not merely dismissed. If you hear others mention feeling suicidal, one should always take the remarks serious.

It's okay, haven't finished it yet or come close. Seems to be okay so far, but the presentations of patients in it seems cheesy.

Always THE most helpful adjunct to therapy for depression. I use it in my practice consistently and working in it builds insight, understanding and NEW patterns of thinking and behaving....allieviating depression...Best if used, one chapter a week, with a therapist, but can be used alone also.

This book was very helpful when I was going through an extra-dark time in my life. I recommend it to anyone who is suffering from depression and enjoys using writing and reading as an outlet.

These authors are inspiring. I have read several of their books and once again, they are beneficial and worth the read. They use their clinical experience to help resolve issues you may have currently. I would refer the authors to everyone.
