An absolute must have for K1 owners
If you had the original extruder like me you need to replace it with this to avoid line skip and under extrusion issues that the original extruder had!

Good product, but returned it because I ended up needing the complete assembly. Reordered what was needed.

Fixed my K1 with broken gen1 extruder!
Thanks to the helpful review written by the other fellow, I ordered this to fix my Creality K1 that had the first release extruder. I went ahead and got the extruder and new motor since I bought my printer used (not sure how many hours were on the first motor). However, if you bought yours new then the motor is probably fine. The moon motor in this kit is the exact same part number as the OG (different batch number). My original motor was dated March 2023, this new one is dated September 2023. Easy replacement, with 3 screws to remove. Check out CHEP Filament Friday for a tutorial on YT. Lastly, an easier way to check which version you have is the metal finish on the lock knob. Shiny/chrome is the aluminum gen1 with the blue clip = bad. The new ones have a flat finish due to it being steel and no more blue clip = good. In my picture the new and improved is on the left in my hand.

Not an upgrade, just a replacement. Suffers same jamming issues.
Identical to the original extruder. Just as the original, this one is prone to jamming (little blobs of filament get stuck in the gears on retraction). I keep a couple on hand so I can swap them out without a lot of downtime. Pushes the filament most of the time, though. It's just a poorly designed extruder. I'm using it on a K1 Max. Nice printer, but the extruder is meh. They're relatively inexpensive, and the printer works good, so my advice is to just have a spare on hand and learn how to get good at changing them out.

If your extruder lock is chrome, buy this now.
Replace your ticking time bomb! The original K1 extruders are faulty. They will eventually start slipping, causing failed prints. You can tell which extruder you have by the presence of chrome plating. If you have chrome, you need to replace your extruder immediately. This is the updated extruder. You don't need a new motor, just the extruder. This extruder has a tighter, more stable filament path between the gears, and works great!
