Works Well and is Easy to Read
Our old weather station went kaput. The transmitter quit working. We got this as a replacement. It has been very accurate so far. We like the fact that the indoor and outdoor readings are in different colors. It is smaller than the previous one, but that's okay. It does stay lit at night, but it's not too bright. Good for a night time prowl! We're very pleased.

AcuRite Wireless Home Weather Station with Color Display and Remote Sensor.
I am using this unit to display the temperature inside our home and the remote sensor to track the temperature in our outside Greenhouse which is about 20 feet from the base unit. This has worked thru the summer and winter reliably. The display is a good size and legible from across the room but the base unit is in our bedroom and is too bright at night even when set to low intenisty so I simply put a cover over it at night and all is well. Easy to use. I would like an additional sensor to measure the outside temp but this unit works for my needs.

Wished I’d Known it Came in White
Easily visible temp and humidity inside and out (which is great in sub-tropics). (Also shows today’s highs and lows of temp and humidity, but it’s quite small)Features colored, animated visual display of forecast: sunny, cloudy, rain, lightening. (Occasionally the weather display does not correspond with my current weather). Difficult to read time and date (too small for old eyes). Shows pressure and whether it’s going up or down, Shows animated phases of moon.Easy to read straight on or at an angle. It’s larger than I expected. The black in my light colored room doesn’t look good. I only wish I’d have had the option of white which I realized was available on Acu-Rite’s website 😢 and it was cheaper. This model does not work with WiFi. The outdoor sensor needs to be placed out of wind, weather and sun! So may interfere with accurate readings.

Easy setup.
I bought a different brand and couldn't get it to connect so returned and picked up this model. Worked great right out of the box and appears very accurate. I would highly recommend if looking for basic outdoor info.

A very good unit for a very good price
This is a very nice weather station. Once you get it set up the way you want it, it performs well. It has almost all the features that I wanted, and they all work as advertised. The temperature readings are accurate, as is the barometric pressure (see below). I never pay much attention to the humidity readings, as those sensors are subject to all sorts of variations (However, after many months of ownership, I find that the humidity readings are helpful, if not perfectly accurate). The only negative that I can think of is that it is not possible to set the clock to the 24-hour format. I like to use the 24-hour format, even though I'm in the USA, but for most users this would not be an issue. Here are some other things that potential buyers might want to know:1) Setting up most of the features is not particularly difficult, but manually setting up the barometric pressure is a bit of a challenge. Many people won't care about that, but I do. I wanted to set it to the reading at our local airport, and it took me about 15 minutes to get it right. The procedure is addressed in the manual, but it could be explained a little more clearly. (The unit does have a 14-day "learning period" during which, I assume, it's supposed to eventually automatically detect the barometric pressure. I neither wanted to wait, nor did I trust this feature to get it right, so I switched from "automatic" to "manual" to set it myself.)2) The display is very clear and colorful IF IT IS BELOW EYE LEVEL. The more it is above eye level, the more washed out it will be. In other words, you want to place this weather station where you will be looking down at it.3) It is unrealistic to expect devices like this to actually forecast the weather. This is tough enough for supercomputers to accomplish. If you want a real weather forecast, go to a weather website or watch the Weather Channel.4) While the literature never explicitly says so, I believe that the time-date function is tuned to the National Bureau of Standards atomic clock [after months of ownership, I have concluded that this is not so; the clock runs just a little bit fast and has to be manually reset]. There is a separate button battery to power this function, which is why the time and date are correct right out of the box. Of course, you do have to set the time zone and whether or not daylight saving time is used in your area.5) The product information clearly says that this unit is designed to be plugged in. Do not expect it to be otherwise. The batteries are only for back-up in case of a power failure. Be sure to put in the three AAs so you don't lose all your settings if the power goes out or you have to unplug the unit.6) Read the manual.

Hard to see the screen while sitting down
I have a hard time being able to read the screen without my glasses from a short 5 ft distance. Even with my glasses on I still have difficulty reading this as the numbers are so faint, and I can't read the time on the tiny upper line unless I'm right next to it (with my glasses on). The time read out is super tiny!To get the numbers on the display to be darker I have to stand up and be just above it for them to be darker, and if I go too high up them it's just a blur. So not an easy read display. I'm soooo disappointed in this, as I expected a crisp display with dark numbers making them easy to read. The display has 3 levels of brightness that you can adjust, but that doesn't affect the numbers very much (they don't get any brighter on high, and only slightly dimmer on low). The display stays on full time, unless you unplug it or the power is out, then you have to push a button on the top to read it. That all is nice, but I'd like to be able to turn the screen off at night. It does read the indoor and outdoor temp and humidity which is what I got this for, so it's not a totally dud, but close - hard to read screen is really bothering me, but not enough for me to go through the hassle of returning this.
