Product Description In Star Wars - The Clone Wars, the heroic Jedi Knights struggle to maintain order and restore peace. More and more systems are falling prey to the forces of the dark side as the Galactic Republic slips further and further under the sway of the Separatists and their never-ending droid army. Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan learner Ahsoka Tano find themselves on a mission with far-reaching consequences, one that brings them face-to-face with crime lord Jabba the Hutt. But Count Dooku and his sinister agents, including the nefarious Asajj Ventress, will stop at nothing to ensure that Anakin and Ahsoka fail at their quest. Meanwhile, on the front lines of the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda lead the massive clone army in a valiant effort to resist the forces of the dark side... .co.uk Review Star Wars: The Clone Wars is the 2008 CGI-animated theatrical film that serves as the kick-off to the weekly animated Clone Wars TV series. The concept came about way back in 1977's original Star Wars film, when Leia says in her message to Obi-Wan Kenobi "Years ago, you served my father in the Clone Wars." Initially a simple offhand reference that would reveal Luke's past, the phrase captured fans' attentions for years, until Episode II: Attack of the Clones revealed just how the Clone Wars figured into the battle between Republic and Empire. The 2008 movie is full of familiar characters--Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Count Dooku--and a new one: Ahsoka Tano, a young girl who has been made Anakin's Padawan. Together, the two headstrong youths embark on a mission to rescue Jabba the Hutt's kidnapped child, battling each other as much as they battle the Separatist forces. There are some good sequences, including duels with Dooku and his assassin, Asajj Ventress, and it's interesting to see some new corners of the Star Wars universe, such as the seamy underbelly of Coruscant. But Ahsoka and her penchant for nicknames that are too cute to stomach seem aimed only at tween-age audiences, and for all that goes on in the movie, nothing really happens in the end. The 2003 animated Clone Wars micro-series, which had the advantage of being directly tied into the live-action film series, had much more emotional bite. At least some familiar voices return: Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO, and still the only actor in every movie), Christopher Lee (Dooku). Other voices include Matt Lanter (Anakin), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka), and James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan). But even the traditional opening crawl has been replaced by a narration more suited for Starship Troopers. Veteran Star Wars fans will probably want to see The Clone Wars--once--but it won't take them long to discover that this Star Wars isn't theirs any more. --David Horiuchi

Clone Wars convert
Well I have to admit I enjoy fantasy & sci fi although I wouldn't call myself a serious Star Wars fan. Now don't get me wrong I have seen & mostly enjoyed all the movies & even bought a little of the merchandise. I don't know a lot about the Star Wars universe & I did not see the Clone Wars animated film at the cinema. Then curiosity got the better of me & I bought the blu ray disc. I was surprised & impressed. So much so that I watched it twice in a week! After that I just had to buy the season 1 set. Once again I was impressed. I love the style of the animation & the level of detail. It has become my favourite animated series & after a hard day at work (yes I'm a grown man!) it's great to loose yourself in an episode or two (even my wife has been known to watch!). The picture & sound are outstanding on the blu ray version & this is definately the best way to view the series. There are also plenty of extras & "making of" material for each episode. It has rekindled my interest in the Star Wars franchise & I very much look forward to obtaining a copy of season 2 when it is released. It's pure escapism & after all isn't that what fantasy & sci fi are all about. So why don't you loose yourself in the Clone Wars, go on you know you want to.

Great show for kids and adults alike.
Great start to the series, which just keeps getting better and better the further in you get.I think this series is the best example of Star Wars available, much better than the movies. The SW universe works much better as an animated franchise than it does in live action in my opinion. Much easier to suspend disbelief and get taken along with the narrative. The movies (especially the prequels) can seem a little ridiculous at times. This show contains the definitive portrayal of Obi-Wan, and it even manages to make Anakin likeable and shows a more gradual fall to the darkside than we got to see in the movies with his bizarre 'boo-hoo, i had a bad dream about my girlfriend' turaround. We also get to see Yoda being a bad @ss in this show, and get introduced to cool new characters like Ahsoka; Anakin's Padawan learner. This show is much, much better than the current 'Rebels' show that replaced it, and i dearly wish that Lucas had waited just a few more years before selling SW to Disney so that The Clone Wars could have been finished. Perhaps we would also not have gotten the steaming pile of doggy do 'The Force Awakens' that was just a complete rehash of A New Hope. The Prequels may have been awful, but at least they tried to be their own thing rather than copying the entire first movie.

Superb Quality, and excellent animation
It's great to see the different Jedi characters being fleshed-out. In the Prequels, there were so many Jedi, yet most of them were just background characters. The Clone Wars gives you a great feel for those Jedi. There are still elements that are oriented toward kids, ie, Jar Jar Binks and the Battle Droids seem to be there for comic relief, as in the movies, but I appreciate that Lucasfilm wants to cater for all age groups, and those childish elements, overall, do not detract from this excellent series. To summarize, the series is very good, and the stories are both interesting and concise. As for the animation, it's absolutely excellent, and the Blu-ray really emphasizes this. My friend owns the DVD, and when he watched it on Blu-ray, he was blown away at the difference. Therefore, if you're thinking about getting the DVD instead, I'd advise you to go for the Blu-ray, as you'll really appreciate the difference in quality.

Sample adventure from the Clone Wars.
Ok movie. Read the novelisation before I saw the film, which matches the book. Exciting story, not really part of the Skywalker saga proper, but features an adventure in the life of Annakin. Not essential viewing for fans, but not bad if you're a completist. Didn't fancy the seven Clone Wars series. Too much viewing aimed at kids. Expensive too. This'll do nicely.

Amazing!!!
I bought this due to being a massive star war fan and thought that I should give it a go and am I glad that I did. The animated film clone wars is straight after the attack of the clones film and sets the basics for the tv series. I personally thought the film wasn't that impressive but the tv series blows it out the water with great episodes. The episodes usually follow Anakin Skywalker and his new padawan Ahsoka adventures but in a few episodes it plunges you into different battles like with the jedi Kit Fisto and General Grievous it does this a few times but with different characters like Mace Windu and Plo Koon but the set up is usually Anakin, Ahsoka and Obi Wan. It has appearance of everyone's favourite jedi characters like Mace Windu, Master Yoda, Obi wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and a brand new jedi padawan Ahsoka Tano, it also has people that you would recognise like Jar Jar Binks, Padme Amidala, the evil sith Count Dooku and his new apprentice the sith assassin Asajj Ventress and the two droids that everyone loves R2D2 and C3P0. It has a lot more characters you would know but the page would be endless if I wrote them all. In these adventures it takes you across the galaxy and shows you vast new worlds that you have never seen in the films. This great 2D animated TV series which gives a story between the attack of the clones and revenge of the sith films. Some of the episodes in this tv series are brilliant and as a star wars fan you will wish it would never end. This is the perfect present and an absolutley must have for any Star Wars fan. After I watched the full first series I quickly jumped onto amazon and bought the next series its that good.
