Always have one of these on your person.
This solves a problem of plugging your phone into unknown sources Jack's using someone else's cord etc.Never plugged your phone into a data Jack. You don't know or use someone else's cord because then you open your phone up to be completely hacked and cracked

it works, but is it useful?
The FBI recently posted a warning about "juice jacking" on Twitter. Juice jacking is supposedly a technique where a criminal hacks into public USB charging stations (like you see at some coffee shops and airports) to steal data from people who plug their phones into these USB ports. Other US government agencies say that this type of attack has never happened in public. I do know that when I plug my phone into the USB port on my computer, a menu pops up on my screen asking me if I want to use the USB connection for charging only or for data transfer. I am dubious that a hacker could access my phone unless I click on the data transfer option. Maybe very old (like more than 10 years old) phones do not have this security check? If you are really worried about this problem, these gadgets do appear to work. When I plug one of these in to my computer's USB port and then connect a USB data cable, my phone automatically goes into charge-only mode with no option to transfer data. They claim that this gadget supports charging speeds up to 2.4A, but they do not give any figures for voltage or watts, so there is a good chance that your phone will charge more slowly with this gadget installed. They also do not say if fast charging protocols like USB Power Delivery are supported.

Simple, effective, works as intended
For those who do not fully understand what these are or why you want to use them, let me try and explain.Modern phones typically have one plug. That plug can be used to charge the device, OR send / receive data. Like when you backup your phone. Most people do not think about it, but when you plug your phone into a public USB port (like at an airport, or free charging station) you're taking a big risk. If its an innocent USB port, then it will only send power to your device. But people have been known to use these USB ports to send malicious data to your phone. Either to hack into it, or to corrupt it. When you plug your phone into a random USB port you really have no way to know if its doing only charging or something worse. This device acts like a blockade you put between your device and the charging port. It prevents any and all data from being sent beyond it. Think of it as a super effective phone condom. It ensure only power will get sent to your device. If you ever want to be 100% certain that your phone is protected use a device like this everywhere you plug it in to charge.A great way to test if this device works is to use it to plug your phone into your computer's USB port. Under normal circumstances your PC or Mac will prompt you that it has found a new device. With this device it should only pass on electricity to your phone.
