MagPaint Magnetic Paint for Walls, Bedroom, Office, Kitchen, Playroom, Classroom, DIY and Renovation - 0.5 litre - 1sqm Coverage

Excellent product. Makes a wall magnetic very quickly and effectively.Some tips and observations from experience:- Needs 3-4 coats to be properly magnetic.- VERY thick paint like painting on cottage cheese, needs to be on thick so doesn't stretch.- 0.5l covered ~1.5sq m of wall with only 2coats so had to gework second can.- Leaves a textured surface and shows brush strokes. - - Matt grey finish is nice and it's easy to do a single coat of regular blackboard paint to make a blackboard but wouldn't fancy it under regular emulsion without sanding.- NEEDS SERIOUS MIXING ideally with a paint shaker (I took my cans to local b&q at a quiet time and asked them to put on shaker, once upside down once right way up and was fine)- weighs a LOT hence mixing need the 0.5l can feels like it weighs about as much as 2.5l of emulsion! Lots of metal filings (I guess) in suspension hence needs serious shaking.- We got the lovely Tidlo wooden letters and numbers and they stick well.- also got the Sigel magnets which are super strong and work well to hold up paper or photos but needs to be that strength to use as notice board.

Works as described in terms of coverage, you have to give it two coats and there was just about enough. It does add a little thickness and texture to the surface you paint so if it's a section of wall you then paint over again it will appear slightly different (pitted) and raised from the rest of it but it's not surprising. After that, you can use magnetic photo/inkjet paper for example to print out your pictures (or shapes/words/other) and bung them up on a wall, makes it easy to change them and or move them around. Fridge magnets also work, it helps to spread the load out for example rather than a larger item and a small magnetic point/surface magnetic paper works well.

yes its thick, some people dont understand this its full of metal bits you have to mix it rather like anti climb paint. mix it and mix it while you are using it it aint hard, it works great done 5 coats on the door so used the whole tin. the tin had a dent in but who cares its in the tin that matters brilliant service all round many thx, please dont expect it to go on like normal paint but it work brilliant

It needed more coats than it says on the tin. I ended up having to buy two tins and about 6 coats and also had to buy extra strong magnets but despite that I’m very pleased with the end result. I have a very lovely feature wall in my bedroom now with all my photos/ postcards etc stuck up. For me it was well worth the extra cost and effort.

i have uploaded photo's of the tin and paint for you to see. i cannot use this paint. it is terrible. i opened the package today. as you can see, the tin is dented. on opening the tin, the paint inside is largely congealed and unuseable. i could send the paint back to you, or take it to the local recycling centre. i am not bothered which. what i do want is a full refund , including p+p or a replacement, which is what i prefer.thank you,margaret ford.

Good points: certainly works, didn't test at first coat but certainly strong enough to hold magnets after 2nd coat; however, added third as directed just in case. Can be painted over with coloured paint - I used chalk paint so is chalkboard as well as magnetic surface.Bad points: product INCREDIBLY difficult to stir and really does need to be mixed in well. Someone here advised taking to paint store to put on paint mixer machine, good idea. Product was mix of entire solid lump and very runny liquid so took AGES to mix and was incredibly messy. Also, even though I watered down, it was still incredibly difficult to apply - paint drags and congeals on surface - I had to sand down in between each layer - again, incredibly messy - black dust everywhere.Does the job though, but am glad to test on old wardrobe and to only be doing very small area.

Its not the easiest paint to apply, and you really need a strong stick/screw driver to continuously stir the paint so the filings inside the paint stay at the top of the pot, but its really great!You can sand down and smooth the paint, so its smooth enough to paint a final colour coat of paint over the top.

as many others have commented the paint gets very grainy and is not easy to paint nicely. The recommended magnets do stick nicely on it
