Problem:- My PSU is old and doesn't have all the latest standard cables. But it is nice and silent and still working perfectly. It only has a 4 pin power connector for the motherboard.- My new motherboard is a 2019 version so is modern and it needs a 8 pin power connector for power.So you see my problem. This power adapter solves the problem by bridging the two.I'm not an electrical engineer or PC parts guru but whilst waiting for the item to be delivered I read on the web that you can actually just plug in the 4 pin connector into the motherboard and your PC would still work. I tried that and it sure did. Apparently this is OK if your motherboard doesn't draw too much power from the PSU but will be unstable if it does. So as a stop gap you can just do that but given this is so cheap I suggest you get this anyway to make your system stable.

This is a great way of providing power to a CPU that needs an 8-pin EPS power connector and your motherboard only has a 4-pin ATX12V connector.Unlike similar products that use 2 x MOLEX, this uses a 4-pin ATX12V connector and a MOLEX, which means it has a far better chance of providing the power that the motherboard needs.Unrelated note: MOLEX connectors provides far more power than SATA power connectors. Do not ever be tempted to use adapters that use SATA connectors as they are not up to it.

Am i glad i found this and at bargain price.After getting a custom built computer online with the new Quad core processorand unwilling to pay over £60 to the outlet for a power supply as i could get a silent600w of Ebay for £18, however thats when i thought i'd made a costly mistake as thecable from the supply was single and not recommended for my board although some opinionswere that it would be fine i didn't want to take the chance then did alot of searching andfound this genius cable at giveaway price. Delighted i was as they seem rather rare and iwas initialy unsure if they even existed.Phew!

Product is as described and does the job of converting power for 8 pin mother boards. However as I had gone for a cheaper power supply which subsequently died I no longer use this as I have invested in a better power supply (with the correct 8 pin plug). In this case the cable was fine - it was the low quality power supply that was at fault. I would strongly recommend investing in a good quality power supply! And check the cables supplied with it.

This is the cable you're going to need if you plan to use an older PSU in your next PC build. Unlike other 'P4 to EPS' cables that you can buy, this one is more than just cosmetic, it allows you to power your CPU with current from a P4 cable and a molex cable!The feel and quality of the cable is very good and can be easily sleeved and viewed without have to sleeve the rest of the cables.10/10 - would buy again...well maybe by then i really will have to buy a new power supply!

Having attempted to upgrade the motherboard in an existing computer and been thwarted as the old 4 pin ATX plug had been replaced by an 8 pin one and I was using the original power supply in the case, this little cable was an absolute god send. Here in Portugal I'd have had to spend €100 on a new power supply had this cable not been available via Amazon. Excellent piece of kit!

I liked this very much because I only had a 4 pin cpu power cable and I needed an 8 pin for my new mothernoard. This allowed me to be able to power my new cpu fully and get the maximum performance.

Works perfectly with my new PC build which had an 8 pin EPS connector rather than a 4 PIN for the CPU, with a 2 year old PSU from my previous PC build which despite coming with a 6/8 pin PCI connector only has a 4 pin CPU connector.
