Rimmel London Nail Base & Top Coat, 12ml

After needing to perform some emergency nail surgery to stop the varnish from peeling off completely, I am so pleased to have found this product! It dries quickly and leaves a lasting shine. I can't yet make a comment on water resistance or chipping, but it is easy to apply and does exactly what I have been looking for. No peeling or horrible colour residue either!

I love this as a top coat. It's a nice, thick clear varnish which goes on smoothly. My nails have a lovely shine on them which makes my nail colour really stand out. I put a wine coloured varnish on and finished it with this top coat last Thursday - it's now Monday and they're still going strong. No chips or peeling so far which must be a record for me, I find I have to renew or refresh my nail varnish every couple of days. Great price too, nowhere near as pricey as some contenders on the market but definitely just as effective. Delivery was fast too, received within a couple of days of placing the order. I've not used this in the 'nail nurse' sense but my nails definitely seem stronger using this as a topcoat. Would absolutely recommend.

I hadn't used nail polish in a very long time, probably years, so decided to treat myself with some basic colours.Obviously a top coat is preferred to protect the nail and colour applied, so I chose this Rimmel branded stuff.Used on its own, it quite decent and protects the nails for at least 48hours as long as I'm not doing anything vigorous with my hands; however by itself it doesnt seem quite chip resistant. Applied to a base colour though, is seems more chip resistant and protects the colour for days on end.This top coat is quite quick to dry which is a bonus especially if you're on the go.The shine is moderate and in general a couple of coats keeps the nail feeling sleek and nice. There is no stickiness after drying fully.Good value, would recommend and buy again :)

Love this! Cheap as chips but does what it's supposed to. I use it with nail wraps, it gives them as really good shiny appearance.

Works very well as base and top coat but it takes a long time to completely dry

I feel a bit silly that at age 43 this is the first time I've ever used a base coat. I bought a bottle of Barry M's Under the Sea and the label said apply basecoat before use. I was a bit ?? never used that before, what difference does it make? But I thought I'd try it, and the difference is world's apart. I used this as a basecoat and top coat, and I've never had my nails look like this, it has shine, depth and looks overall more of a professional finish. Add to that, after 5 days it looks no different, it's not started to chip or wear away as usually happens after two days wearing bail varnish alone. There seems more point using bail varnish if the results last longer, and look nicer. I also bough a glass nail file so my nails are looking the nicest they ever have :)

I was really impressed with this! I can't use gel nails for a number of reasons and was getting tired of my normal nail polish chipping off within a couple of days. This is the best top coat I've ever used. I was gardening yesterday without gloves. My nails survived me scrabbling around in the soil weeding plus a serious scrub with a nailbrush afterwards. Very impressed! I would say it does take a little while to dry (reckon about 30 minutes?) And you need strong nail polish remover- I got my nails off with normal strength but nearly fumigated my house I had to use so much. But otherwise an excellent product and very good value.
