Install with hood in "Service Position", fits perfectly
They came well packed and fit perfectly. There are guides online on how to get the old struts off, super easy with a flathead. The installation is best performed with your hood all the way up so you don't have to try and compress the struts and align them with the pivot points. If they seem a little long after standing your hood up, just slightly press the hood back a bit more towards the windshield and this should bring it to the perfect mounting position.

Easy to install - once you know the "trick".
At first I thought there was a problem because when I removed one of the struts, I could not install the replacement. It was "too long". But, checking it against the one I removed, it was almost exactly the length of the one I removed! A short trip to YouTube and I had the answer. On the passenger side is a little paddle by the hood hinge marked "press". You lift the hood with your right hand and press the lever with your left thumb. Once it releases, keep lifting until it clicks into place in "service mode". Voila, it is now TRIVIAL to change the struts. (Except for those dang springs, they are a bit tricky to release.) Once you have the new struts in place, lift the hood yet again and release the service mode lever. You can now close the hood. Once you first release the service mode lever, you may have to apply some effort to pull the hood lower past the initial part. With the hood all the way open, there is not much weight pressing on the struts. It will really help you to watch the video and also do a model specific search on YouTube and watch those also. The video I found said you need a helper to hold the hood open, but on my car, this was not the case.I did the job on a 2001 E320 sedan, and once I knew what the heck I was doing, it took 5 minutes. The hood is now its original stiffness and I more than likely saved several hundred dollars compared to the same repair at the local dealer.

NO! STOP!!! PRODUCT A DISASTER!!!
Bought these struts because I did t want to pay Mercedes OEM price for tail gate struts on a 2001 e320 wagon. Purchased in February and as I was installing I notice they do not have retaining clips, as shown in the pictures. I knew that the sockets were stuck to the ball with sheer pressure of an internal spring - once on it will NEVER COME OFF. but I thought oh well they’ll last a few years and it will be some other poor sap who deals with it after I sell the car.Fast forward 5 month and both struts fail. Made in China aftermarket at its best. Knowing it was a mistake to go cheap I bought OEM replacements. But these struts do not come off. You can pull and pry and follow their guides. Nothing. You can call tech support who point the finger the other way because this vendor is a third party and not actual “A-Premium” based in the peoples republic of China. In the end, I had to dremel each socket off of each ball. Sparks flying and mangled metal like a prison dentistry horror story.Best of luck if you purchase, but be warned. Cheap product that does not ever come off voluntarily.
