Terrible interior baskets' design
We purchased the AEG FSK52917Z dishwasher for our second home based on the recommendation of our kitchen supplier/fitter. They insisted on supplying only AEG appliances and offered us a discounted rate. Despite our initial preference for the Miele brand, we succumbed to their pressure and decided to save some money by choosing the AEG dishwasher.Looking back, we realise that it was a naive and foolish decision. The interior design of the dishwasher is incredibly poor, making it impossible to find the right place for wine glasses or bowls. The cutlery tray is terrible, shallow, and does not take chunky cutlery. Often we find we are left with wasted space within the machine and are washing some items by hand as one cannot neatly stack everything. And within less than a year, one of the upper support trays broke, further adding to our disappointment. While the cleaning performance is satisfactory and the 30-minute program is useful for lightly soiled dishes, we cannot in good conscience recommend this machine. In comparison, we have had two Miele dishwashers at our primary residence, and the new model we upgraded to last year is an absolute dream to use and stack. We highly recommend Miele based on our positive experiences. We want to caution others against blindly following the advice of kitchen suppliers who may have deals with specific manufacturers. It is important to trust your own experiences and consider the feedback of other consumers who actually use the product. In addition to the dishwasher, we also fitted our entire kitchen with AEG appliances, including two fridge freezers, two ovens, a washing machine, a tumble dryer, and an induction hob. Overall, the appliances have performed reasonably well. However, we have noticed that the induction hob tends to heat pans unevenly on certain cooking zones, particularly the large central zone, requiring us to constantly rotate the pans for even cooking. Additionally, the "chrome" shelving edging in both refrigerators is merely a coating that quickly wears off, giving them a shabby appearance. These shelves seem to be designed more for initial cosmetic purposes rather than functionality. Furthermore, the two small drawers for fresh produce are awkward to use and poorly designed.Based on our overall experience, we cannot recommend AEG appliances, especially the dishwasher. It has truly been a disappointing and frustrating purchase.
