Update 2/2022: This lens hood is holding up nicely. I don’t use it super often, as I have found that the trick to disengage the mount can be finicky, so it is not always easy to remove from the lens. I did deduct one star, as I would expect smoother action for five star reviews.Original Review 9/2021: I bought this for my RF 24-105 f/4.0-7.1. I wanted something inexpensive because I don’t use the lens often.This hood does the trick. It fits several canon lenses and works like a charm. It feels sturdy and locks into place perfectly.When flipping it in reverse (which I do when not using the lens), it can be a little “sticky” coming off. It’s nothing major, so it didn’t effect my overall rating. It does also get easier over time, with more use.The hood provide necessary protections from small impacts, which is my primary purpose for using. It feels well made, so I believe it will perform for this purpose.I am please with this choice.

This works perfectly on my Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens on Canon EOS 90D.I was having trouble finding any hoods that would fit this larger mm lens properly.The lock mechanism locks onto the lens perfectly and is easy to remove when needed.This has been perfect for sunny day sports photography!Very happy customer!

At first, it looked very nice, new, nice matt finish. I tried it on my Canon EFS 18-135 mm IS lens. I fitted over the two lugs (so it is for two lugs rather than older three lugs), but it would not turn to lock on. Yes, I matched red-dot on lens to red-dot on hood, fits nicely over the two lugs but still cannot turn that 90 degree to lock. So I was told I could get a replacement at no charge. Sent the original back with the replacement arriving a day later. The same problem, snuggles down over the lugs but cannot lock on. On close inspection there isn’t any rough spots or what may be an accidental stray piece of plastic to keep it from turning. It feels like the groove in the hood are too narrow to accommodate the lugs. When you try to turn it, there is just the slightest play and then solid stop, no give whatsoever. If I don’t hold it, it simply falls off. Doesn’t lock on in reverse either. Trying another brand before shelling out the bucks for OME model.

I read reviews talking about fit, but I had no issues at all. This one is made for the USM lens NOT the STM lens. Both are 18-135 but this hood doesn’t fit both of them. There is a small button on the side that you push to release the hood. At which point you can twist it off very easily. I would recommend buying this one compared to the $35 hood from Canon. I’m sure the Canon one is the perfect fit but I can’t see how it can be that much better…

The lens hood attaches in a stable manner, both hood out and hood in. It could be a little smoother in rotating, but one rarely needs to do this. Materials are adequate, could be a little more rugged, but again this rarely comes into play. This lens hood is clearly a good buy.

It is a hood. What can go wrong?Well...it is a bit tight and I worry about the threading being unnecessarily being worn on the lens. I do flip it forward to shield against stray light and back so it fits in my small bag, so that is significant for me. The lock does seem difficult at times to disengage (again, tight). Hopefully, wear will wear this down on the hood and not the lens and it won't be so tight...and hopefully it won't be super loose at that point.

Great lens hood for my Canon RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM Lens, Cheaper than the Canon version. Has a nice lock tab on it as well. Can't complain. Shipping was nice and quick. Would recommend to anyone needing a lens hood.
