My reason for taking Nicotinic Acid (Niacin) is to reduce triglycerides and boost HDL. If this is your goal too then know that it must be in the form of Nicotinic Acid. The other forms of "Niacin" are sustained release no-flush formulas (like Nicotinamide) and they don't work for lipid management. Nicotinic Acid will cause one heck of a flush the first time you use it, but the effect does wane after regular use. This product is 100mg. Start with that, one with each meal. Then over the course of the next week or so gradually increase your dose from 200mg to 300mg to 400mg to 500mg (5 pills). You need high doses for lipid management. Now when you need to order another bottle, look for a product that is 500mg per single capsule and just take 1 with each meal moving forward.Remember, the flush is harmless. You will turn red and feel hot for about 20-30 minutes and then it goes away. If you only have 2 meals a day then you might flush every day with your 1st dose, but you won't notice any flush at all with your dinner dose.Great product! Works immediately.

This is the best niacin I've purchased and just added another bottle to my basket. I ordered 2 kinds and took this brand first and worked great. You know your niacin works when it gives you a good flush which makes your skin red and itchy for a short time. That is one of the biggest benefits of this vitamin. The flushing is opening up your blood vessels causing them to open up and get cleaned out essentially. I see negative reviews all having to do with the flush. Hello that is what it is supposed to do! Niacinamide on the other hand is known as the flush free version of niacin. They take out what gives niacin the flush so ignorant people don't get the flushing affect and don't complain. That simple. They basically take what is the best benefit of this vitamin out to accommodate the lowest common denominator in our society. I love this Carlyle brand and will be avoiding the Nutricost brand due to the very weak flushing with the same milligram strength which tells me its diluted yet Nutricost was one dollar more and 60 servings less as well.

This is a good value for the price and dose. Locally it is hard to find Niacin with only 50mg. My husbands doctor advised him to take 50mg four times a day for a total of 200mg per day. I could only find 200mg tablets and had to quarter the pills which was very messy. These I only have to cut in half but it would be nice if they already had an indentation to cut the pills in half making a cleaner cut. This is the second time I have ordered these and will continue to do so.

This product is easy to adjust the dosage , I cut and tried 1/4 tablet at a time per day until I felt a rush that didn't scare me. I got to about 1 1/4 before I felt any rush. I slowly added to the dosage until i got to 450 for now. One side effect I have when taking it is that I get a runny nose like the sniffles. Taking a 500 tab right away is scary until you get used to the rush feeling. I can't swallow pills well so I chew them up first before washing them down with something to drink . I always take them after a meal so it won't hit me on an empty stomach.

I've been taking 100mg niacin for several months now, but switched to this brand a couple weeks ago. At first, it seemed like it was in fact 100mg, but after a week of taking it, I took 1 pill and it gave me a super-flush. I do not want the flush. This was not normal. I have been taking it with food every morning for the last several months to avoid a flush.It was a flush unlike any other. I wouldn't be surprised if I actually got 500mg of niacin in 1 pill. That's what it felt like. I'll have no way of knowing exactly how much it was, of course, but I no longer trust any of these and do not want to keep taking them. I have already switched brands.

I use niacin daily and with other products I sometimes get a negative reaction. I never have a problem with this product. It is effective, potent and fulfills my needs.

I had a horrible reaction to the 250mg, it was just too strong for my system. So I purchased the 100 mg, then cut it in quarters. Now I have worked my way up to 50 mg. I wanted to add this to my bedtime routine to help lower my BP. It not only helps with the BP but as a side benefit, it makes me fall asleep. Yay.
