Kit Has Several Extras
My kit contained the remote control shown in the Amazon pictures, and it also included the program downloader. The Amazon Rufus AI has no knowledge of these extras, so is fairly useless answering questions. You can download the programming software and other stuff on the iCubeSmart web site. There are videos on YouTube explaining how to use the programming software to create your own LED animations. There is also a YouTube video that shows you how to build the LED cube; it basically goes over the build instructions included in the kit. I found the instruction video very helpful. Both videos have no spoken audio. This makes the programming software video difficult to understand. I had to watch it several times to figure out how the software works. Better videos for the programming software are needed. There is also a YouTube video showing the LED animations supplied and pre programmed into the electronic control board. This demo is very impressive. You don't really need to create your own LED animations with the software unless you want to. It would be helpful if iCubeSmart provided a repository of user contributed animations. I have not built the kit yet but everything appears to be of high quality. Building the kit looks to be fairly labor intensive, there are a lot of solder joints! I also purchased the acrylic case, because the LED cube is just constructed of free standing wires soldered to the control board, and is probably fairly fragile. Looking forward to building the kit.

Fun but time consuming.
The media could not be loaded. Great quality cube, arrived in perfect condition. About 20 - 25 hrs of build time for me. One bad led, but you get about 50 extras in the kit.

Challenging DIY solder kit, great result
The media could not be loaded. Super cool project. This will take many hours and several days to complete. I worked on mine for a few weeks . Your time and patience will be rewarded with a super cool LED cube. Lots of pre-programmed effects and sound activated options. Highly recommend, but make sure your soldering skills are good. Pay attention to aligning the bottoms of the wires you solder the LEDs to for easier assembly at the end. Note that my video includes the acrylic cube which I believe is sold separately and is also highly recommended

I didn't finish mine
This is a huge commitment. You probably know that already. Like most people who buy these, I did not complete mine. Made one tier and lost interest. I would really recommend you have your patience in check and soldering skills up before ordering this. Might be a cool kid, parent project -- let the munchkin put in the long hours?

Tedious but well made kit, awesome results!
Took a little practice to find an efficient assembly workflow for the soldering of the LED grids, but after that it went well. Very tedious cutting and bending the LED leads but also kind of a meditation thing. When testing each LED for operation on each of the finished grids I only had one bad LED which was easy to replace. After putting it all together, plugged it in and Voila! It actually worked! I was blown away that I had not made any mistakes. Took about 25 hours to assemble working in 4 hours spurts. I out on the acrylic box and it looks spectacular. Now I'm toying with the idea of a 16x16x16 cube... am I crazy?

Excellent quality cube
Cube shipped from China so it took a while to arrive. I decided to buy one of the little cheap, one color cubes to practice with while I waited. This brand and kit is SOOOOO much more professional. From the instructions to the components to the help they offer.I took my time and put it together a little per day. It took an average of 2 -1/2 hours per grid to build. I recommend to cut the stems a bit longer than the instructions and just trim them down later, or don’t even trim them at all. Cutting them too short adds a lot of time to the build.Every LED worked! I was very satisfied with the outcome. I did have to customize the build process a little bit to eliminate a few problems, but that was a personal preference. If you want a good quality cube, go with this brand. I also suggest you buy the case for it. It’s about $25.

fun build
it's a lot tougher to build the "normal" 8x8x8 cubes. some others said that it takes about 2 hours per segment. i'd tell others to plan on more time than that. that said it was a neat kit to build, not too hard but a challenge. lots of bending the 4 lead LEDs who's legs are cut to about 6mm
