Hayward W3SP1580 Power Flo Pool Pump, 1 HP

Installed yesterday. This was a replacement of an older Hayward filter, that after many years seized up. So everything was all set up and just needed a "swap out" When I first plugged in, it made a screeching sound for a couple of seconds, I shut off & started again... then it was fine. hopefully not an indication of a future problem. I upgraded from a 1hp to 1.5hp. for a 24 ft round above ground pool. The water is circulating FAST!!! Will keep you posted if any issues arise. For NOW it is WORKING GREAT !! Very happy PS It arrived a day earlier than expected !!

We have the 16 x 32 Intex above ground pool and the salt water system. The pump that came with the pool was so temperamental and never really worked correctly from the beginning. It was always getting a low salt reading and would shut off. There was plenty of salt in the pool. We quit using the salt system. After a little over a year, that pump just quit! It was still under warranty but was out of stock. I ordered this pump because I couldn't go without a pump. I eventually did get the Intex replacement two months later. It is still new in the box in our shed. I couldn't believe the difference. The suction and flow was so much stronger on this 1.5 Haywood. The original Intex pump was only .75 hp. We already had the largest sand filter from Intex for that size pool. I was concerned about the pressure but it was fine. I did have to change the Intex fittings for the Hayward pump but it was relatively simple. My only complaint is that I have to keep replacing the gasket in the filter basket because it loses pressure. I am not sure of the warranty and our pump is 2 years old and starting to make a high pitch sound. It is such a great pump that I an ordering another new one. Not sure why ours is making a noise but just in case it decides to quit, I will have a new one ready for replacement.

I regret not having bought this Hayward years ago. It is so quiet, powerful, and well-engineered.The one drawback is that this particular model does not have an On / Off switch, despite what the manual shows in its diagram. So, it has to be plugged and unplugged to operate. Tolerable, but not ideal ... particularly because my outlet is farther away than the sand filter, skimmer, hoses, filter trap et al.I need a second person to help every time I want to vacuum the pool, for example.

The first one I ordered came broken in half by good ole UPS but I contacted them and within minutes IHad a return shipping label. They refunded me in twoDays and I reordered and next one came FedEx in good condition and it worked great and exact replacement.

Easy installation (I’m a plumber. Some modifications had to be made to the existing pluming). Got it running and its no where near as loud as our Hayward 2hp. Pool size is between 20,000-25,000 gallons with one skimmer and one jet, just was much pressure as the 2hp Hayward. Running smooth so far! I’ll update if any issues arise.Went ahead a purchased the 4 year protection plan after reading the reviews and seeing the failure rate. I’ll also update on that as we go.
