Sturdy, reliable- stands the test of time
My order history says I bought this in, wow, 2018? So why am I just reviewing it now? Because I'm buying another one for my dad. This thing is sturdy. It was very easy to assemble and everything lined up. The metal bars are a good diameter and the wood is nice quality. I bought mine to hold my fencing gear, which is fairly bulky and somewhat off-balanced, yet it never tries to fall over, so it can surely handle suit jackets and jeans. It has not loosened up or gotten rickety over the years- I've never once had to tighten it back up. The solid base is a good size and thickness and stabilizes the rack very well. It works for shoes or boots no matter the style, with plenty of clearance above, and you won't be having your heels fall through cross-pieces and possibly getting stuck or scraped. It's been a workhorse. Highly recommended.

Not for those who don't like taking apart and putting back together again
It was a cheap product, that sort of was engineered. It made me realize why things are done a certain way.Don't tighten screws completely until all screws are in; a slight mis-alignment will make it hard to screw in with a screwdriver. But hand-tighten first and it will work.I'm surprised the bottom has the screwheads touch the floor, instead it should be countersunk.
