Q: On the bagel setting it only toasts one side? I used to take this for granted until I purchased a Cuisinart which does not.

Agreed. Wasted time and money researching a good toaster that only toasts one side when bagel setting is selected. It toasts both side equally when on TOAST setting and toasts both side equally when on BAGEL setting. Bagel setting reduces darkness of toast by approximately 1/2 setting. Piece of crap if looking to toast bagels as I was. I have no idea why a bagel setting would toast both sides - pointless and deceptive marketing. Anyone know of a toaster that does a good job of toasting only one side of bagels, English muffins, etc.?

It may not be the toaster. I notice a butane-like smell when I toast sprouted 7 grain bread from Aldi. The toast tastes fine. One internet source suggests it may be yeast related. I’m not worried about it.

The slot is approximately 5.5 inches long.
