A great mug, improved by being a little thicker than the older ones.
Double-walled means boiling water inside and I can still touch the outside. I felt the earlier mugs were too fragile. I liked them, but they felt really fragile. These new ones are just a little stronger and thicker -- perfect.People complain about the mugs breaking when they pour boiling water in them, but I think that's really asking too much of anything made of glass. I use room temperature water and put it in the microwave. Hot brewed coffee, yes, the mug ought to be able to resist it. Boiling water, no, I wouldn't try that. If you are going to put boiling water in them, poor very slowly at the beginning.Anyway, these are my favorite mugs. I've been using them for maybe 10 years. I bought four of them at Starbucks. I broke one about five years ago, and broke a second one a month ago, so I checked Amazon and here they are. The same exact mug except a little thicker. Very happy.

IMPROVED! Bodum Bistro Double-Wall 15 oz. mugs are in constant use in our house
We've been using these Bodum 15 oz. mugs for two years now, which I call my "newer" mugs. Explanation: I originally purchased three Bodum 15 oz. mugs several years ago, perhaps in 2007. I still have one of those original mugs that I keep safe from daily use and don't mix with the "newer" ones because the original one is indeed very fragile. I broke two from that same batch due to their thin, delicate nature. The "newer" ones from 2009 are much sturdier, with thicker glass. My conclusion is that Bodum has improved their double-walled glassware considerably. These "newer" ones are used daily by my husband and I for everything we drink, hot or cold, all day long. These are my personal favorite beverage containers of all time due to their beauty and function.UPDATE: Bought two more! This is the fourth time in 5 years or so that I have purchased a pair of these 15 oz Bodum mugs. The first two were so light and delicate that I broke one almost immediately, so bought another one. The next two I bought from Amazon in 2009, (very well packaged), and these were thicker and sturdier, but I still broke one. This was no fault of the design or structure, I was simply clumsy. So, now I bought another pair from Amazon and was very surprised when they arrived. They are by far heavier and stronger than my 2009 purchase. Took me at least a day to get used to the difference. Now I don't notice it at all, but am aware that these are much more durable than the 2009 ones, so feel even more confident using them. I love these mugs, and so does Hubby. My conclusion is that Bodum has improved their double-walled glassware considerably. Just hope I can go at least another couple of years before I dash another one into some unforgiving surface!AMAZON! Please note, these are packaged well, and much stronger than previous versions! Please sell these again.

Absolutely the worst!
I had high hopes. The glasses seem to keep liquids warm, but in less than a couple of weeks, both are broken and in the trash.I dropped on from the counter; I caught it with the top of my tennis shoe and it rolled off onto the lino floor about 2 inches lower. BOOM! 1,000 pieces.Next, I was taking my other one out of the cabinet and just nicked the wooden door. Boom. It cracked all over. I tossed it in the trash, where I'd also thrown a tin can, and it exploded with a loud pop.I haven't broken a dish in 10 years - until this.I have their French Press (8 cup glass) and I read a lot about the glass in the press being fragile - so I already own a backup. But I will never again buy their glassware.

These are the best mugs!
Originally I got a mug from Starbucks just like this. It broke and Starbucks did not have any more. So I found these. Once in a while they go on sale...grab them when they do. My only problem is that Amazon assumes they are well packed in the manufacturers shipping box...wrong! Amazon needs to ship these in a box with packing and not the box they still use. I have had one set show up in pieces. But Amazon handled the exchange quickly.I use these in the microwave to boil water then add a tea bag. You can watch the water boil and make sure it boils long enough to get the air out...that way you do not have it erupt into a violent boil when you put the tea bag in . One word of caution. If you ever boil water in a cup in the microwave and let it cool a little then try boiling it again it might have a violent explosive flash where half of the water turns to steam. This is because the top of the water cools more than the bottom (for some reason the heat does not rise). When you start the microwave again the water below this thermal barrier will come to a boil before the top and thus all the top water get blasted out of the cup. This is especially true with this cup because it is such a good insulator and the water stays close to boiling a minutes after.

Nice mugs - but they need better packaging from Amazon
I like the look and feel of these mugs. My morning coffee looks like it's floating in mid-air, although I can't say that it stays hot any longer than in any other type of glass/ceramic mug. The glass itself is so thin it's like drinking out of a Christmas ornament, so although borosilicate glass is supposedly highly resistant to sudden changes in heat, I am not about to try running these through a dishwasher. And like just about all other reviews, I received a broken mug in my package of two. But unlike other people's experience, Amazon was quick to send out a replacement set (kudos to Amazon! - perhaps they're getting good at sending out replacements on this product). One mug was also broken in the replacement package, so it took Amazon sending me two packages of two mugs apiece in order for me to get an intact set of two. Amazon needs to pay better attention to how they package these things. Their shipping boxes have plenty of room to protect these mugs from impacts on all four side, but they aren't deep enough to protect these extrememly fragile mugs from impacts to the top or bottom.
