Q: My motorcycle rims are bigger than 16.5. Is the metal rod in the middle to go through the bearings to hold the motorcycle rims?

Yes, as for as i can tell there are threr different sizes for three different bearing sizes

Couldn't get it to work on my 16" trailer tire. Don't know about 21" motorcycle tires. I've changed a lot of motorcycle tires and never needed a tire changer for them. I've found them easier to do just using tire irons. Note, if they have innertubes, do not use screwdrivers. It's really easy to damage the inner tube using screwdrivers. The bead breaker part should work ok on motorcycle tires though.
