Q: Is there a build up with this product as there is with the Essence?

Haven't seen it at all - much better than the old Sonicare Elite, which was a great toothbrush, but only a matter of time before funny odors and eventually distasteful build up would appear. The Essence is as great of a toothbrush, and much smaller and easier to hold, without the funny smell or build up.

Q: Does the charger indicate 100-240v or just 120v? I do travel and having a range is impt. The ans given seem to contradict so asking again.

On the base of the charging stand is stamped 100-240v a.c., 50/60Hz, 0.4-1.4W, so it appears to be suitable for travel.

Q: I have TMJ and sensitive teeth. Is this the best product for me?

I too have TMJ and bouts with teeth sensitivity, however, I have had no issues using my Sonicare. My only issue is that it is loud when in use, but my teeth feel clean and healthy.

Q: My toothbrush appears to be repackaged/not in its original factory sealed plastic insert -refurbished or not authentic?

Sonicare sells their basic toothbrush through Amazon in a brown box, without all the plastic. It is the least expensive packaging and the least expensive of their toothbrushes. We find we don't need all the extra bells and whistles of the more sophisticated and expensive models as all we do is use it in the two minute brushing mode. And we appreciate not having to cut through all the plastic to get to the brush.
