On vacation recently, had a root beer inspired Old Fashion with bourbon. Wanted to see if I could make one at home. Root Beer syrup is hard to find for cocktails but this one fit the bill well.

Got the cherry cola syrup, hated the taste. I liked how there were no artificial sweeteners or preservatives, but the flavor itself was not good. Me and my spouse both felt like we had heartburn after trying it. We used it with our soda stream water, but it was not worth it.Also, we use an app called Yuka to check foods and items we buy for harsh chemicals. This item had not been rated yet, so we tried submitting it. The nutrition facts on the label are incorrect. Total amount of carbs is 17g but the total amount of sugar is 18g? Can’t be. They need to update their labels. Also the MacSweetie’s website domain is up for grabs, they haven’t repurchased the URL.Overall, not worth it. Now I have a full bottle I cannot return, and won’t be using. Hopefully I can find someone who can bare the taste.

Perfect for cocktails, not so much for soda. The flavors are amazing for a root beer old fashioned or any cocktail you can make with root beer bitters. I tried to make root beer soda with my soda stream and ended up using half the bottle to get the sweetness and the flavor was so strong I couldn’t drink it.

Made the mistake of bringing bourbon on a group fishing trip with this. Everyone loved this and drank all my booze first! Great flavor!

It’s got great old fashion ingredients but not old fashioned flavor. It took a lot (2/3 of the bottle) of this just to make 32 oz. thus you can only get about 40oz in one 8oz bottle and at 15 buck a bottle that’s expensive root beer. If it had really good flavor, it would be a nice treat once or twice a year but it really doesn’t have a memorable flavor. I’m sorry but I will keep looking due to these two negatives.

I had to use A LOT to be able to really taste anything. Even then, it was just "meh". So I added a teaspoon of vanilla and then it was just palatable.For the price and how much I had to use, it's not worth it. I wouldn't, personally, recommend.

This wasn’t exactly what I expected, but not in a bad way. The flavor is less syrupy sweet (which sometimes makes drinks too much like cough medicine,) and has depth to it, and a little bit of spice (cloves, maybe?) Regardless, it’s almost empty and I intend to restock, so give it a try!

I love the flavor of this syrup! I got it to use with my Fizz machine. My only complaint is it’s a relatively small bottle, so I’m going through it pretty quickly.
