As described for wider feet, allowing room for toe splay! Heavy though.
UPDATED x 2I just bought my 3rd pair. 100% waterproof. I walk 30-40 miles per week and these have never let me down.I love them so much that I also bought the summer shoe version. No breaking in. I was straight out walking in them.Absolutely incredible.I have been. Wearing these boots for a year now. As mentioned in my review below, another brand of boot left me minus three toenails. I was able to walk in my Keen boots despite my toenails and I did not experience any further issues. I was in my local hiking shop recently and I discussed how brilliant Keen boots are for my feet. The sales person said that this model is well respected and is padded and great for people who wear orthotics. I love them they are SO much more comfortable for short walks than trainers. I will buy these again.I am new to hiking. I walk about 30 miles per week for fun and fitness and normally use trainers. However a recent commitment to a hiking retreat meant that I needed more robust footwear. Unfortunately for me I didn't do my proper due dilligence and opted for my normal size in a pair of Columbia boots bought at my local hiking store. I noted that the toe box was very VERY tight but was assured that it would losen out and mould with my feet. It did not. I ended up with black toenails that are just now ready to fall off.I was keen not to repeat this when hiking again, and researched options for wider feet. I am a size 10, small person with slightly wider feet and my toes like some space. Keen hiking boots are perfect for me. They allow my toes to splay out comfortably. They are heavy enough on the foot and overall feel like a pretty big fit.I take a size 5 UK. I wear 5.5 in trainers and I ordered 5.5 in these - they were HUGE. I returned them as they had been previously used and I will re-order in the size 5. I also liked the look of the more urban shoe but was hesitant about ordering it as it had fewer reviews.

A new Keen convert! Pinched small toe nerve relief at last!
I don't write many reviews but felt these so deserved one. A bit long winded sorry but worth a read....I've been a Salomon's fan all my adult life; trail, running, hiking boots until recently (past the dreaded 50) I started getting acute pain around my little toes. So much so that I could hardly walk. I tried all sorts until I read it could be Morton's Neuroma, pinching of the nerve running between the small toes often caused by too tight toe box! I needed to replace my old Salomon hiking boots anyway and set to doing so much research it made my head spin! I'd read about KEEN Targhee's being roomier in the toe box, so I took a risk and bought them. I'm so glad I did! I literally now have no more pain at all. They lost only one star on comfort and thickness as I'd say for a day hike, the soles are less forgiving than my old Salomons but I've bought new socks to compensate. They are definitely waterproof (see pics this was from long wet grass) my feet are completely dry and by the end of the walk the outer had dried quickly. They don't look wide and clumpy on (like some boots with a wider toe box) they feel light and secure around my feet. The laces are that kind of slippery material which I'm not a fan of but that said they haven't come undone yet and I tuck them in for security. Easy to get on and off, no having to undo the entire lacing system. And lastly I am around a size 5.5, bought a 6 and they fit perfectly with a pair of medium weight hiking socks. Love this colour combo too! Hope this review helps :)

Keen walking boots
Very comfy and wide fitting but certainly not waterproof and falling apart after 4 months.

Only lasted 10 months before leaking
I’m so disappointed with these boots. They are so comfortable with a lovely wide toe-box but after 10 months, they cracked and let water in. This is the 3rd pair, 1st pair lasted 2 years, 2nd pair 7 months and now these have failed after 10 months. I emailed their Customer Service Dept and they couldn’t have been less helpful if they tried. I won’t bother buying Keen boots again.

Wide & comfy but definitely NOT waterproof.
Great for wide toe fit and comfy in general with no need to ‘break in’ but absolutely not waterproof. Feet got really wet from day one…both boots, all round so not a specific leak anywhere, just not waterproof. I bought them on offer so am keeping to use as a summer boot but they’d be going back if I’d paid full price. True to size.

Fab boots for wide feet
Love these boots, straight out of the box and a 15 mile hike, no blisters no breaking in, great for wide feet, I went up half size to allow for thick socks,

Good Wide Boots
Bought these over a month ago for trail walking up to 10 miles. Have difficulty finding footwear to fit my tiny (size 3) but very wide feet and skinny ankles. Have now worn these boots many times and I am delighted with them. The extra width continues the length of the boot so no pinch points. I bought a size 3.5 to accommodate hiking socks, but I could have got away with a 3. With careful lacing, however they don't slip on my feet. Although comfortable from the box I found them too warm in the milder September weather, preferring my Skechers for summer walks. Now that I am encountering mud and rain they are coping well, though I haven't waded through any water in them yet. The grip on the sole is good in slippery conditions. The boot comes further up my ankle than my previous pair and this took a little getting used to, but the cushioning is good so they do not rub. The laces are quite long and tricky to knot tightly but I like that they are quite thick. Maybe slightly heavier than my old boots but probably because of the higher ankle. A good solid walking boot.

Not the same as they used to be made
When I bought my first pair of boots in this style I was in a boot barn in America. I vividly remember slipping my foot into this boot and instantly feeling like Cinderella- it was made for me! I have small but wide feet so shopping for walking boots is naturally a nightmare- especially women’s uk sizes. As you can see in the photos this boot is just completely different. It’s longer, the materials feel cheaper and less comfy, they just in general feel like lower quality. The ones I originally had were made in Cambodia however the ones I bought on here were made in Thailand. Such a shame as I really thought I had found ‘my perfect walking boot’.Have ordered a different style of boot and also the same style again but this time from America- we will see…

Most comfortable shoes ever.
These are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned. I bought them for hiking on damp mornings and in wetlands. They’re perfect for that - warm, dry and very stable. But, after less than a week of owning them, I want to wear them everywhere all the time. (So much so that just went ahead and ordered another pair of keens with a low top.) It did take a me a few days to adjust to the higher top as I usually don’t wear a mid-top shoe - but needed one for hiking during foliage as it get slippery out there - but the insoles were perfect from day one. Can’t say enough great things about the design - that wide toe box PLUS heel lock is real so you don’t feel like you’re sliding all around inside them or have to tighten the laces as far in as they go as happens in the some other zero-drop wide toe box shoes.
