Yes, if the 45,000 photos are under 256GB which I expect it is. However Live Photos may not transfer as live (heic) format instead it’ll be static jpeg or a gif.

Q: Will it move music i’ve purchased from itunes on my iphone into itunes on my pc?

I have personally moved photos & movies from my iPhone, maybe 2000 or so. I've also taken mp3's off my laptop, put them onto the iXpand, and into my iPhone XS. Don't know why some say you can't, you can. iTunes is BS and I want nothing to do with it. That's WHY I have an iXpand, so nothing has to be done with iTunes. The music may not be as neatly organized but I put only up to 20 albums on it, use it, then move them off and shuttle in new ones. I wouldn't be surprised that you can put scaled down mp4 videos ripped from DVD and Blu-ray onto the iXpand and drop them into your iPhone as well. It's the same principle and mp4's are read by the iPhone. Just because the instructions don't spell it out doesn't mean you can't do something. I suggest buying the iXpand for it's stated intention; freeing up space by off-loading your iPhone photos and videos. As a bonus you can then use your PC to move files onto the iXpand. If they aren't able to import onto the iPhone they can always be read from the plugged in iXpand; it's simply a separate USB storage drive.

That's a good question. I haven't tried but you can: downlod from iCloud to your phone and transfer it to the Flash Drive You can also plug it directly to the iPad to transfer it directly to your phone. But using the default Files app iPhone, you can transfer from shared files directly to the Flash Drive.
