Improve your English pronunciation and learn over 500 commonly mispronounced words Paperback – August 27, 2013

This is a great book. Very easy to understand for people without previous knowledge of phonetics. For me, that studied English as a Second Language, made me remember my classes; it also made me realize that I still have things to learn.It is written in a very witty, refreshing way; not at all like a rigid university textbook. This feature makes it appealing for younger people, in my opinion.

As noted before me, this is a must have for advanced learners of English. For a non-native English speaker, like me, this guidance is crucial as we tend to see a lot of advanced words in writing first and just have a wrong guess on the pronunciation. And if the mistake is small and/or there no real consensus among the native speakers you meet, you can just stick with your mistake...I give it 4 stars because there's a ton of redundancy in the book which made feel less effective but of course repetition can be a good way of learning for others... Also, beyond being super useful, Mr. Marian gives a lot of really fun mnemonics to remember these things by!

this book is very good my English pronunciation has changed less in two weeks after i received the book with the cd, i listen to the cd everyday when i am talking with my friends at work i talked with confidence now, if you want to speak better English this is the best book for you.

The book is excellent for me as I love buliding up advanced vocabulary through reading contextual sentences and getting to know with particular words' origins and yet having everything I learn tested. I just read (particular sections a couple of times) and really enjoy.

Such a wonderful book. I am grateful to the author for writing an easy to understand guide and I believe that reading it will result in huge improvement in the way I speak English

I would give 5 stars had the author worked hard enough to produce a CD or some audible type. The book is fundamental; I learned a couple of new words. It doesn't make sense printing this type of work without a CD or an audio source accompanied. I want my refund.

this is a good book, but i don't see a CD come with this book. I noticed that some comments talking about the cd coming with the book, but i don't have that. i think it is reasonable to have an audio version given this a pronunciation book.

Not a bad bit of supplementary material for teaching pronunciation to learners of English. But I'm still struggling with the question of how exactly do you help someone change their pronunciation of English? Is their a great resource ? A fail-proof method?Ross F
