Used this to play BG3
What the title says. My laptop's SSD did not have enough capacity, so got this one. Have used it for other games as well since, works great

I love the compact size, but not any more beneficial than a standard SSD in my case
I wouldn't say that I am an avid gamer however, I do play computer games from time to time. At present, all of my games are stored on a regular mechanical hard drive and this certainly hasn't presented me any problems in the past i.e. my download speed remains slower than the write speed of the mechanical hard drive and the read speed is more than sufficient to enable the smooth playing of games. However, I appreciate that there might be some circumstances in which a faster read/write speed might be desirable. This particular SSD has a claimed read speed of 2,000 MB/second. Even for those who are not technically minded, that is a seriously fast speed, with even the current Samsung SSDs managing only around 550 MB/second. However, it is one thing to have the capability to deliver such impressive speeds, but quite another altogether to be able to benefit from it. The SSD is connected via a USB cable, with both USB C/USB C and USB C/USB A type cables being included with the drive. Accordingly, I undertook a speed test using both of these cables and the read speed was significantly less, in both cases, than the claimed maximum. In the case of the USB C connection, I was able to achieve a read (and write) speed of almost 450 MB/second but only 40 MB/second with the USB A connection. I also performed a real world test using the USB C connection by transferring a 18GB file onto the SSD, and was able to achieve a write speed of 150 MB/second, significantly less than that achieved under test conditions. Accordingly, whilst the claimed performance of this SSD is significantly better than most normal SSDs, the actual performance which I have been able to reproduce is broadly similar. In my case, I acknowledge that speeds which are significantly less than the claimed maximum are likely to be due to the quality of the equipment and in particular, the USB adaptors on my computer. Having said that, my computer was designed to be a mid range gaming computer and so certainly wouldn't expect that my experience will be significantly different from the vast majority of other people who seek to use this SSD. Accordingly, my conclusion has to be that whilst it is an impressive SSD on paper, the reality for most people is that it is unlikely to be significantly better than a regular SSD.From a design perspective, this SSD is clearly portable and easy fits in the grasp of your hand i.e. the dimensions are approximately 4 inches, by 2 inches and about a third of an inch thick. It is probably one of the smallest portable SSDs which I have seen and whilst this clearly also has benefits, I'm not convinced that it is enough to make up for the premium price, for the premium benefits which most people may not be able to access.

A great solution to expand storage of your games console
I am predominantly a PC gamer but also dabble on a Playstation, I saw this drive and the specs for the device are good and they are, the 500Gb NvME is contained in a decent metal box that i hope acts as a heat sink for the drive. The interface to the PC is either through USB-C or USB 3.1 on two seperate cables to connect with, my PC doesn't support USB-C so i cannot test the speeds under that technology but the USB 3.1 interface hasn't shown any issues.the hard drive was pre-formatted when i revived it and it worked straight out of the box. So far i have installed several games and I've had no issues with the drive when gaming for several hours, the case does get hot but the case acts as a good heat sink to dissipate the heat. i would talk about speeds but i can't take advantage of the USB-C interface so i can't do it justice to report on.One day in the future when i get bored, i may take the NvME out of the box and interface it straight to the motherboard and see the performance then.As an external storage, this is a great drive, the case is rugged and protects the drive. Brilliant from WD!

Awesome. Extended storage for PS4 PRO
Awesome!Obviously has many uses but for me it's to use as an extended storage for my PS4 PRO.I moved over 2 games with a total size of 226GB which were done in 40 minutes. The drive is fast and does speed up the time to load up the games. It's a fantastic looking ssd and really practical. It's small but looks like it's in a little armoured case. It has four tiny rubber feet to raise it just off of the surface (for that reason you should use it on a hard flat surface). It comes supplied with two short leads, 1 x USB C to USB C and 1 x USB to USB C which are just the perfect length. This really is a serious bit of kit and has some amazing transfer speeds. It's soon going to be the end for hdd as ssd are getting faster, cheaper and bigger in storage size. I'm really impressed, not only with the speed and performance but also with the size and design of this. Being made by WD is the icing on the cake.

Excellent SDD
This is a review for:WD_BLACK 500 GB P50 NVMe SSD Game Drive - SSD Speeds Up to 2000MB/s Works with PC, Xbox One and PS4Some of these HDD are mechanical, some solid-state. Usually, the price is the give away. This is a solid-state drive, i.e. no moving parts, just like your USB memory sticks. This means very fast file-transfer speeds, which in the case of this drive you get.I find this excellent. The build-quality is superb, and whilst I did not achieve the 2,000 MB/s [I presume that this is megabits per second, and not megabytes per second; eight bits make one byte] I did achieve very fast speeds: I think the limitations were with my own connection, but I was getting easily 200 megabytes / second. As a sturdy and reliable SSD that you can transport and carry around, this is definitely one to consider; what you're buying here is the speed of transfers and the name: WD is a recognised industry leader, and deservedly so.I hope that you found this review helpful.
