Q: What type of metal is the hook made out of?

I honestly don't know--but I'm pretty sure it's not surgical steel or gold/silver. Usually if earrings have some sort of "hypoallergenic" posts or hooks, that's a selling point and manufacturers usually mention it. These are cheap earrings from China. I love them and have had no allergic reactions to the hooks, but if you are sensitive to base metals or plan to give these to a young child, I would look elsewhere.
