Great Phone Package
This is a great phone package. 1. It uses standard NiMH off the shelf AAA rechargeable batteries when you need to replace them in a few years. 2. Each handset has a loud speaker phone built in. 3. Its small and lightweight like a cellphone. 4. Talk time is four (4) solid hours and I have verified that on many occasions. 5. The package deal on here for $85 is unreal for 4 phones (I paid a lot more for mine) 6. Since its 5.8 GHZ it won't intefere with 2.4 GHZ stuff (wireless cams, routers, etc). 7. I highly recommend this for the price. 8. Oh and the sound is clear and perfect with no inteference at all anywhere I talk on it.

Should have heeded the negative reviews
I, too, am having problems with the handset losing connection with the base mid-call. I work from home, and it is awful to get dropped from a conference call more than once during the call. I haven't bothered calling Panasonic, as it hasn't seemed to do anyone else any good. I just won't be buying this brand again.

Not as good as my old phones.
I expected more from Panasonic. One of the phones drops calls when signal boost kicks in. Another phone breaks up when you are talking. Listening is fine. Because of the problems I'm having inside the house I have not tried to see how far they will work outside. I plan to run wires to the center of the house and try again. It might work better with the base unit in a central location but I have my doubts. By the way, the 4 handset system is maxed out as is. No need to buy an extra handset. Four phones is the limit and even that seems to be pushing it for this system!

Good voice quality even at long range
I've been using this phone for the last two weeks. I'll outline the good and the bad:GOOD:- battery life- range- voice qualityBAD:- menu reaction speed - the LCD screen's menus are slow- clumsy menu interface- phone doesn't sit very securely in its cradle - prone to tipovers- no back-lit buttons (making it almost impossible to dial at night)All-in-all, I like the phone and the BAD items aren't enough to take more than a star off the rating.

Phones are great
I bought the phones because the house we live in is very sparse for telephone jacks, and this system allowed us to have phones in any room that had an electrical outlet. So far, the phones work exactly as advertised. This is the fourth Panasonic phone system (or unit) that I have owned, and each time, they seem to get a little better, at least battery-wise. These batteries last a very long time with talk and standby. I have yet to fully explore the capabilities, but they have everything that I need, and certain features, like the phonebook sharing, are a godsend when setting up the system. I entered my phone book into one phone, and then I "shared" it with the other phones intantaneously - a real time saver. Since I had another phone system with an answering machine (with features I liked slightly better), I was easily able to turn off the answering machine on the new system - very nice to be able to do.Bottom line - the price is very reasonable, and the quality is good. Strongly recommend!

Don't
These handsets are inconsistent. They work as phones, most of the time. But go from speaker to handset mode, or try to retrieve messages and they shut down, lose contact with the base, and the display goes "Russian," giving a strange mirror image of what it is supposed to read. This happens at the worst times, i.e., after you've been waiting on hold, on speaker mode, and trying to go back to handset to finish the call.Other review sites said the same (unlike these on Amazon).I talked to Panasonic four times, followed their reset instructions and the same thing happens. They still shut down and lose contact with the base.THE WORST THING is that my first contact with Panasonic was within the warranty and they led me along with various "fixes" until I was out of warranty, AND NOW THEY ABSOLVE THEMSELVES OF ALL RESPONSIBILITY. AVOID PANASONIC.

Dead
If I was writing a review on these phones about 18 months ago when I bought them, I would have probably given them four stars. It has great range (my husband has one of the handsets in his workshop, which is 200 feet away from our house). It has quite a nice few features, although we were disappointed when we very quickly maxed out the number of phone numbers we are allowed to store in the directory. The phone is a good weight and size and feels good in your hand. We were happy with them for about a year, until one day one of the phones, which I knew was fully charged, died without warning in the middle of a conversation. This went on for a couple of months so we figured this particular handset was bad and we threw it away with plans to replace it. Before we could replace it, another handset decided it would die at random intervals. When they die, we just put them back on the base, wait a few seconds, then they're ready to use again with full battery life, so this isn't a low-battery issue. Now we've had this set for 18 months and only one handset hasn't failed. I came onto Amazon to spend another $60-80 on another phone set. I don't know if there are any better sets out there, but this one was a definite dud.

Panasonic phone
Advantage over the Uniden set it replaced is that you can use more than one handset at a time. Good range. I like the standard sized batteries so that they can easily be replaced if needed. Setup instructions seem cumbersome so have left it on default settings. There is a constant "hiss" in the background that is audible from all handsets.
