Restoring an old 1800 chest
Okay, so I know that I'm the 4-5th owner of this beautiful piece of history. The person prior to me used a very small lock and key. While I don't understand "why", I wanted to keep the lock and key just because I didn't feel like filling up the holes and make the chest into an eye sore. There was a lock a hair bigger than this which, I think would have fit, but the price attached was too steep. I found this, built up a little more of the chest to hold this and it worked.My ONLY "issue" (not so big that it'll take away from the 5*) is, it would have been awesome if it came with a keyhole

You get what you pay for !
Did not like much about it. Was poorly made. Kept binding up when trying to lock it unlock even before I installed it. Although I did install it and get it working alright, I don't believe it will be long before it binds again or fails completely. Will definitely pay more for a better quality one on the next cedar chest restore.
