DIY fan fix worked
Fitted the new capacitor in old pedestal fan. It now works reliable. It's worth note that the capacitor DOES COME with screw fixing point. This is not clear from the web site pictures.The fixing point allows the capacitor to be secured to the fan mechanics. One tip when performing such a replacement is to cut the wire off the old capacitor, leaving a long connection into the motor.Then solder on the wires of the new capacitor, using heat shrink sleeves to insulate the connections. This avoids opening the motor case and disturbing the alignment of the fan bearings.On my fan, the old capacitor connects to the motor via tag connections, inside the fan case. From experience, I know it is not a good idea to remove this cover and disturbed the rotor alignment, unless it is absolutely necessary to replace the lubrication grease.

Did the job! Gave the ceiling light fan it’s speed and power back, nearly bought a new ceiling light thinking it was broken. Under £4 too!
