Good antenna for scanner

As good as my Motorola
This antenna exceeds my expectations - greatly. I was unable to purchase the brand of antenna that I usually use (Mother "M"). Needing an antenna quickly I found this and hesitatingly purchased it. I installed it on an SUV and much to my surprise, it works GREAT! It is a quality-built antenna and works perfectly on the bands that it is advertized for.

Does not work in UHF without ground plane
When mounted to a small 2'x2' ground plan and sweeping this antenna in VHF it runs a SWR of 1.18 at 151.400mhz. When sweeping this antenna in UHF it runs a SWR of 1.45 at 444.000mhz and in Commercial UHF 467.500 it runs an SWR of 1.73. When I mounted it to my jeep, with nearly no ground plane it ran an SWR of 4.02 at 467.500. I swapped it out for a Comet FC-54NMO and SWR came down to 1.1. My assessment of this antenna is that it's junk in UHF but decent in VHF. I call BS on their claim this is a no-ground plane antenna. I would get the Comet.

I bought it after a had a 1/4 on wave antenna. This one work better and came ready to use. Great product.
