Great basket
Wanted to be able to take my dog with me on bike rides. I donāt think I would feel comfortable going up or down hills using this with my dog in it but it was great for doing a flat bike loop to the beach/park. Riding one handed is a lot harder with your dog in the basket due to the weight not being balanced and it starting to tip to the handle Iām not holding on to just due to my dogās weight. My dog is a 13 pounds pomchi and he fit fine and seemed totally comfortable inside. It was a bit of a struggle to get my dog in just because the straps that go on around the handles of my bike made me loose an inch on each side of the basket. It was a lot easier with my boyfriend helping me put him in while I was also holding the bike up straight. I think I would struggle doing this by myself. I think my dogās size or a few pounds heavier is about as big of a dog as you could fit in.I thought of getting one of the backpack carriers for my dogs and tried it on, but I think those would only feel safe with a dog with short legs like a corgi or dachshund. So this was a far better option! The basket is great with all of itās pockets - on the front and both sides. I put a little beach blanket at the bottom for my dog to sit on and then took it out once we got to the beach! This basket also made a great bike basket for just carrying things without my dog inside - tons of storage. I also didnāt have any issues with being able to ride one handed with less weight inside the basket too!

Only works great if your dog likes it!
I finally got to try out this carrier. It's easy to put together, basically you just unfold it, zip the bottom, put the board/cushion bottom in, slide in the brace, and buckle the straps to your handlebars. The brace keeps the basket bottom straight, I used two short pieces of rope to tie it in place over the front forks so it wouldn't swing too much which helped alot. Now for the exciting part. I have 2 rat terriers, they both weigh about 11 to 12 lbs. If your dog is any larger, I don't recommend this carrier. My one dog (he cooperated, my other wanted nothing to do with this carrier, he made it perfectly clear he prefers to do his riding in the car) fit about as snug as possible. It has a short adjustable lead and clip attached to hook to your dogs harness or collar. I would recommend a harness if you think your dog may jump out and hang himself- bad for him and you could wipe out! The carrier has two strap handles, I tucked my dogs little head through each one to make him more secure. I walked the bike around with him in the carrier so he could get used to it. It also takes a little bit of getting used to when steering once you're riding, the basket does not get in the way at all, but the added weight on your handlebars makes a difference when you are steering. But it isn't much of a hindrance, you get used to it. I'm not sure if Nemo enjoyed the ride, he was a bit nervous, but I think he'll let me try it again. He seemed to enjoy it a bit. If you like to take your dog with you and you think he'd enjoy the ride, this is a nice carrier. It even has pockets to put your keys or a waterbottle, doggie doo bags, etc. It's made of a nice material for easy cleanups. Nice item over all.

Bike Basket
Well the basket is a really great idea. However, they say that the older you get the worse your balance gets. Me being a young 41 year old and out of shape and not on a bike in a long time makes for wobbling bike riding. Especially with the added handle bar weight of a dog. So part of the problem is my own balance issues. The steering is a bit difficult. I'm sure once we get on the open trail which is pretty straight we will do fine.Frisco is the passenger and he is a 10 lb. PomChi. He fits and can lay down in it but barely. He has only gone for short rides so far and wants to stand up and put his front paws on the edge like he does when he hangs out the car window with me holding onto him so he doesn't fall out. We go on car rides around the neighborhood just so he can feel the wind in his hair. Spoiled dog. So he tries to do this while riding in the basket.I didn't like how the straps are hooked in the front of the basket and cross over the opening and then hook to the handle bars at the back of the basket. It seemed to take up some space for Frisco and I was afraid he would get his little leg caught and hurt himself. So I went to the craft store and bought some black furniture thread and a needle and thimble and sewed the straps to run along the edge. It works like a charm. Also the straps how you adjust the length I didn't like how they were so close to the end of the strap so once I got my length, I sewed that too. It is still just a bit wobbly so I will get a piece of small rope and pull the two straps together to tighten the whole thing down and then it will be perfect. All bikes are different and mine is a mountain bike. Considering that and the fact that this basket is well made and it serves a good purpose I don't mind making these adjustments to fit the bike like I want it too. I don't think there is a product out there that will fit perfect on all bikes.I gave it 4 stars because so many people stated their 10lb dog fit great. It was a bit disappointing that he barely fits. And 4 stars due to the fact that it is not universal and I had to make adjustments to get it to work. I am satisfied with the basket don't get me wrong. This was the best one I could find out there. I would definitely purchase this again. I know it will bring me much joy to be able to go on long bike rides and have frisco with me. I live by a lot of bike trails and plan on going on all day outings and picnics with my sister and her chi as well. She will probably purchase this basket too at my recommendation.
