Does this have a side mesh pocket for drinks?

Yes, but only small sized drinks

Which is more convenient? This one or the foldable lunch bag? My only concern is having to carry sandwiches sideways.

I have been using these bags for my kids for the past 6 years. No problems with sandwiches being sideways. Jelly doesn't run out of the sandwiches. I just got them this one and the sandwich still had to sit sideways.

Does this fit the Planetbox Rover?

The Rover ljust barely fits once the bag is frozen. You have to put it in at an angle (the lunchbox does not sit flush on the bottom of the bag).
