Best way to buy the M18 12 Ah battery if you need a charger
If you're just buying into Milwaukee's M18 system and need both a 12 Ah battery and a charger, this is definitely the best way to do it. My local Home Depot sells the HD 12.0 battery alone for the price of this starter kit. It's a challenge to find a good deal on M18 batteries but this is one.Value aside, there is the question of whether or not you need the HD 12.0 battery. It offers the largest available capacity but, at almost 3.5 lbs, it is very heavy. My use case is with Milwaukee's excellent M18 Inflator and its M18 Blower. Driving a dually and having a large yard, maximum run time is a priority for both tools. Then there is the question of the charger. Milwaukee makes a number of different chargers. This seems to be the only charger included in Milwaukee's "kits" but it is not the one I would choose if I were buying a charger separately. I do not own, nor do I expect to own, any M12 tools so its ability to charge both types is wasted on me. What would be more useful is a charger that would charge two M18 batteries at the same time, or one that would charge them faster. Milwaukee makes both of these chargers (the latter being referred to as a "super charger") for not much more than they asks for the included charger when it is sold separately. One other note about the included charger and, I would guess, all of their other 120V M18 chargers: You can't use them with an inverter. They draw too much current. If you plan to charge M18 batteries from a vehicle, you need their vehicle charger. It charges more slowly than their 120V brethren but they allow charging from vehicles. The bottom line here is that the HD 12.0 battery is a reliable, high capacity battery for use cases where maximum run time is a primary factor. Even though it is heavy, if you need it, you need it. And although the included charger wouldn't be my first choice if I was paying for it, it is essentially a freebie as part of this combo. It's hard to beat "free".

Worth the Money
I purchased the Milwaukee chainsaw. It runs off normal M18 batteries, but this battery is even better with the chainsaw and blower. Both are more powerful and last longer while using this battery. The charger charges all of the other Milwaukee batteries too.

Nice Having The Extra Capacity
Many of my battery operated tools are of the Milwaukee M18 variety. Having the extra capacity and High Output enables operation of tools like the chainsaw, pole saw/string trimmer/hedge trimmer these all draw lots of power. With the 12Ahr battery I do less charging. To protect the tools and battery I only operate for brief periods and let it all cool down. The charger is handy also. I would (and have) buy this again.

Go big or go home
Pro:- Currently the most energy in a Milwaukee battery- Makes things like the leaf blower much more usable- This combined battery and charger are cheaper than just the battery!- The charger is a lot quicker than the older ones- The quality is consistently good.Con:- Still not enough power and too much heat for things like the chain saw- Charger gets pretty warm, don't know if that requires better efficiency or a little built-in cooling- The price is competitive, but it is still too high.

Cheaper to buy with a charger than without
These are good batteries. Darn expensive, but, what else are you going to do. I use them on the chainsaw and leaf blower. They last plenty long.
