TAMASHII NATIONS Bandai S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla 2019 "Godzilla: King of The Monsters Action Figure

Ive only bought two SH Monsterarts figures before this, 1993 Godzilla and Godzilla 2000 Milenium (the original version that now goes for a ton) And both were great figures. The 1993 (or 94, I can't quite remember, but it's a 90's goji) was pretty stiff and hard to pose, it's when they were first starting to make these so it's understandable. Jumping to now with Legendary Godzilla's bulky design, and this toy actually poses extremely well, it has a ton of body movement that allows it to look up fully (to do the iconic pose seen in the promotional pictures) good leg movement and lots you can do with the tail. In the right pose he's surprisingly dynamic. He comes with a atomic breath effect that's mostly intended for the firing up pose, but you can use it firing at the ground or if you have something to prop the effect part up, firing forward (sadly the effect part doesn't stay in securely and is only held in by gravity). Not a deal breaker though and it is really nice to get a cheaper (relatively speaking) SH Monsterarts that has an effect part. The face sculpt is phenomenal and the eyes are spot on mean looking. Something Bandai does really well at with their monsterfigures better than other toy makers is making intensity of the characters face very apparent, and giving high detail. The tongue is a separate part and painted well. My only complaint is the paint work on the body. The bumpiness of the skin is fantastic and the base color of charcoal gray is accurate and good, but there isn't enough highlights or variance in color to help break it up, it's there, but it's hard to notice without putting it under a bright light. This is where the NECA version of this Godzilla is better, that one has a well done paint job on the body that's very interesting to look at, and i would say more realistic. You can't go wrong with the neca version with it being so much cheaper. These figures go up in price quick so I'd recommend grabbing one now, they aren't reprinted often. If the 70 dollar price tag is too much for you, get the NECA version, it has better body paint apps and is quite cheap.

The latest Godzilla in Tamashii's "Monsterarts" line is based off of his appearance in the 2019 film "King of the Monsters". This figure is nearly 100% accurate to what you see on the screen due to use of CGI files, with a small amount of stylization from sculpter Yuji Sakai. The figure boasts a great paintjob that faithfully reflects what is seen in the movie. In the paint department a "less is more" stance is taken as some areas are strategically left unpainted. This allows for the figure to look nicely uniform, unlike the NECA which sports a sloppy drybrush. In the articulation department, I am very pleased to say that it is a heavy improvement over Godzilla 2014. This figure has the not often seen ability to look up, more on that later, which allows for more dynamic poses than usual. This figure's tail also holds a pose very well and is just loose enough to move around. The only problem I have seen with articulation is stiff joints and gaps. Joints can be loosened with a hair dryer, and leg gaps are fixed by gently pushing up on the thigh. Now in the accessories department, we have a beam effect included (FINALLY!), which also has a cinematic gimmick. A second jaw piece is included that allows you to slip in the beam effect. You can move Godzilla's head all the way up to take his now iconic poster pose. The jaw piece also provides a more natural look than the average tamashii support stand. Overall this figure is a home run for tamashii due to it's excellent value, sculpt, and features. I would highly recommend picking it up while you can still get it for a good price.

This figure is definitely for the adult collector and not a toy for a youger child as it is recommended for ages 12 and up, I took a chance and ordered this figure from the Amazon Warehouse for the low price of $51.72, I wasn't sure what exactly I would be getting in the way of damage as it did indicate that the packaging and the figure would have some damage. I opened the amazon box and the SH monster arts box was in perfect shape and as for the figure, I have heard of other people having goofy eyes and parts falling off at the slightest touch but, My figure doesn't appear to have any of these issues at all and its fantastic. Great job Monster Arts and great job Amazon warehouse. I am really happy with this purchase and with this figure of the King of the monsters, Godzilla. The range of motion and articulation are fantastic and it allows you to recreate the scene from the movie very well. I like the breath effect and how you attach it by removing the lower jaw and replacing it with a jaw piece that allows the breath effect to be positioned wherever you want it, I love the translucent blue with the silver highlights. It looks fantastic, if you are a Godzilla fan I would highly recommend that you go for it. Now is it perfect well, it does have a few issues but, they are minor like, there are some pretty big gaps depending on how you pose the figure and you do have to be careful with the back spikes as they appear to be very hard and sharp that could break off or hurt someone if they were to fall on the figure or someone wanted to be mean. If price is an issue, then look into the amazon warehouse deals and maybe you will get lucky like I did. Fantastic piece of figure and promising shipping updates

I thoroughly enjoyed this before I was forced to return it. The sculpt and paint on mine was great (minus the discoloration on the end of the tail). The eyes were even aligned! (I'm looking at you NECA!) My main issue was the joints... they all seemed off. Godzilla's right shoulder and right hip were extremely tight with the right knee and right ankle joins being super loose. After heat treatment, they were a bit better. The tail was a different story, and the reason I returned this figure for a refund. As you head up the tail from the end the joints got tighter and tighter - to the point where they couldn't move. Even after the old hair dryer, they left the tail impossible to move. After doing my best to get them moving, a few loosened up. One of them, however, just snapped in half. The rotation I was doing to loosen the join apparently was too much. Upon inspection afterward, the ball joints didn't move AT ALL in the sockets, they might as well have been glued in place. I assume they pumped these out so quickly the plastic hardened around the ball joints making them impossible to move. I bought a replacement, I'll try to update this review when it EVENTUALLY arrives. ---UPDATE 7/12/19--- I recieved my new Godzilla figure a few days ago and my opinions are similar. The joints are still extremely tight and my second figure is somehow even worse. The left arm blocks the sculpt of the chest hindering movement, the thighs have trouble going in and out (like the splits), and the tail is even tigher but is becoming looser with use. The bottom line for me is that this figure, visually, is stunning. There's just a 50/50 chance on whether you're going to get a figure with extremely tight joints. Overall, I recommend it if you're okay with tight joints.

I received this figure two days early, from what was already an early delivery after they said Godzilla would arrive on June 6-7 after the preorder was rescheduled from June 21-25. I must say he is gorgeous and suffers none of the google-eye syndrome on several other examples for NECA and other individuals of this figure. As a result, he's far better than I hoped! My only qualm is the limited range of motion in his tail and the fact his joints can pop off if you force them too hard. Luckily, his ball and socket joints fix this easily and in time I know they'll loosen up a bit for some spectacular poses. What really surprised me is how small he is; he's not much bigger than my Creative Beast Studio Beasts of the Mesozoic figures at around 12 inches long, and as a result, he's absolutely dwarfed by my NECA 24-inch 2014 Godzilla figure! The quality and detail on this figure are superb. As a result, I highly recommend him. A warning to all with kids though, his dorsal spikes are quite sharp, as are the points on his flame breath accessory and his parts pop off and could easily be a choking hazard if they aren't lost forever. As such, keep him away from children younger than 14.

This Godzilla is beautifully made. So many points of articulation and amazing detail. I will say this is not a toy for young children though. If pulled, the points of articulation will separate, like the hands and feet. They are quite small and could be a cooking hazard. Also the back spikes are quite sharp, and could really hurt if thrown or if a child falls on it. I originally purchased this for my toddler, but it happily became my husband's upon realizing this is not a young child's toy. But my husband loves it, and we are very happy with the purchase.

This is my first S.H.Monsterarts figure and I love the detail and the look of it all. Spot on representation of Godzilla from King of the monsters (2019). The only dislikes I have is there’s a gap behind his leg and his tail that you can see through to the other side and he price is a bit much. The accessory is a nice touch tho since I’ve heard most S.H. Monsterarts don’t come w/ accessories.

Excelente figura de Godzilla 2019 S.H. MonsterArts. Original Tamashii Nations, nuevo y sellado con caja impecable. Articulaciones bien. Ya más de 1 año que se lo regalé a mi hijo de cumpleaños y lo sigue jugando, la figura sigue completa, sin romperse ninguna articulación, y cuando la cabeza o la cola se llega a desprender por uso brusco siempre se puede colocar nuevo en su lugar. Por lo que ha resultado muy duradero, más de lo que yo hubiera esperado, considerando que es un coleccionable y por el uso que mi hijo le ha dado, jaja, muy feliz :)

This thing is insane. I haven't ever bought a SH MonsterArts before, but now I know the quality of this figure. It's amazing. The sculpt was actually made using the CGI model so it's incredibly accurate to the movies. Pros: Atomic Breath effect works really well and is a nice additon given the 2014 Godzilla didn't have any accessories. The painting on my figures eyes and mouth is on point, which I was worried about because I had heard there were QC issues with eyes and teeth paint on this figure. The articulation is top notch, you can do all sorts of ridiculous and awesome action poses with this thing. THE TAIL every damn segment is a damn ball joint so this thing looks so natural when you pose the tail Cons: No stand for the Atomic Breath. For a £70 Figure, it would have been nice to have one, but they don't cost much on eBay. My right legs was very loose straight out of the box, which normally I would have gotten mad about but I used Clear Nail Polish (I heard superglue works too), abd just evenly painted it around the ball and the joints that were loose, and after it had dried I reconnected the joint and they were just how I needed them to be. This thing is sharp too, but as long as you're careful its fine Well Done Bandai, could have had a stand for the atomic breath but other than that its a great figure. If you like the Legendary movies and like action figures, I strongly recommend this.
