I bought the 300A version. Good stuff! Construction is solid, cast brass and forged copper. A thick copper shim is included for the wire connection, and a hex wrench. Jaw hinge has lubrication. Insulation around jaws is solid heat-resistant stuff. Grips the rod very tightly, takes manly strength to operate. I bought two of these. Both samples have jaws that meet squarely and aren't loose or wobbly. I know these are basically copies of some old American design, but they're great copies done by people who obviously cared about the end product. When I need other welding accessories I'll definitely look at Reboot products.

This is a solidly built stinger. I bought this to replace the original electrode holder on my stick welder that was plastic, broken and not making a very good connection. This unit is 1000 x better. The head and lever are metal so aren’t going to break when I ‘place’ it (lol) down on the concrete floor. Handle is super tough plastic so that’s good too. It makes a much better connection to the electrode and I’m getting way better power flow to the work. Night and day difference. Well worth the money.

Easy to install nice big spring holds the electrode nice. Way better then the stinger 200 or 250 that comes with most smaller units.

You get what you pay for. It'll work for a while but the contacts melted and the spring started to go out after two months of use. Got a Suzukid (Star Electric Manufacturing) 300 amp holder for around the same price and am much happier with it.

I got this for a medium duty welder that came with a monster electrode holder with a weak spring. This thing is the exact opposite. Holds any electrode firm, even 1/16in, in any position. Super light and comfortable. Makes small jobs that much quicker, but can do some heavy lifting when you need it to. Burning 1/8 e7018 no problem.

Even for the occasional welder, this stinger is a piece of junk, Amazon won't give me a refund...broke the first stick

Bought this to replace on the holder on my cheapo stick welder when the last one fell to bits from getting too hot too often. I’m not sure if I’ve bought one that’s over spec’d for my welder but it was easy to swap and install. Delivery was quick too. It’s properly heavy and feels solid. Underneath the plastic is cast brass. The spring on the jaws is nice and strong and inside the jaws is a decent looking copper teeth/grip for the end of the rods. What a difference it’s made to my welding! I am a definite novice when it comes to welding. I believe in the welders’ payer “a grinder and paint make me the welder I ain’t”. Since installing this my welds look sooo much neater, almost the archetypal stacked pennies and the rods seem to strike better as well. Definitely a worthy addition to the workshop at a great price
