TOKYO STOREFRONTS - THE ARTWORK OF MATEUSZ URBANOWICZ

Amazing book, excellent for references, I really love the art style, WW artist

This book is amazing. I love it.

This book has amazing pictures of watercolor art depicting unique storefronts in Tokoyo Japan. The details and color palate lend to the sweet character of each building. Amazing job by the artist who includes information and interesting back story tidbits for each. Good paper and well designed. Makes a very nice coffee table book even if there are no artists in the house.

I bought this thinking it would be a straightforward run-through of some of Mateusz's work, but it's actually more than that! I mean, the illustrations themselves are beautiful. The artist is really masterful with color, light, and perspective. A few stores aren't just the fronts, their insides have been drawn as well, in a cut-away feature of the interiors.Beyond that, the storefronts are organized by neighborhood, and there is a description of each store that goes with every illustration. Every single storefront is numbered and mapped, and the map, which is also a watercolor, is printed on the endpapers. This is a really nice detail and adds to the book's emphasis on exploring and observing. If you're familiar with some of Mateusz's work, he is very generous with his process, so this book isn't an exception. There is a lot of detail about the supplies he uses and the steps he takes to make these illustrations. Based on this, I might give this book as a gift to a friend who will likely find the walk-throughs and information helpful.

This artist is amazing! I’ve been following him and his artistic career in Japan. Great resource and references for art students as well.

Hermoso! Me hizo viajar ahí! Me encantó el mapa pienso enmarcarlo. Me gusta que viene en japonés e inglés. Me encantó! 💖

👍

These are incredible pieces, useful as a display book or for ideas on things to draw. The book has a premium feel, and the artwork itself is highly detailed. Having English and Japanese is a great mixture, and I still maintain that Japanese is one of the most gorgeous written languages. After covid I hope to visit Japan and I'll be curious to see if the shops in this book are a preview of things to come!

Great book for inspiration. The illustrations are beautiful and also rather informative which I wasn't expecting.

Amazing!!! I love the art!
