What is the slot for on the bottom of the ball joint stud?

The slot in the stud is only used for assembly purposes during manufacturing. Thank you

I dont see the rubber gasket in any of the pictures, are they included with this kit?

Yeah it’s in the picture. I was thinking the same thing until it arrived and I took it out of the package. The rubber boot is pre-installed and smaller. It was a breeze to install! Great quality and Made in the USA!!

Will it work on 04 silverado 1500 4x4 lt ? Amazon says does not fit

Maybe not. I used it on my 2010 but truck was redesigned since 2004.
