The bin is great for collecting daily kitchen scraps before taking them outside and throwing them on the compost pile. It has a sturdy lid and it seems like the charcoal filter really prevents odors from getting out because it works really well for us and does not smell. It also helps to keep fruit flies in check - they cannot get in there and since we've had this bin, there have been much less flies in our kitchen (we used to have an open bowl for compost waste).This is not an actual compost bin for composting though but just a solution for collecting scraps before throwing them on the actual backyard compost - I am mentioning this because I've been getting this question from friends.Overall, great quality and functionality!

Love this mini composter! Looks good in the kitchen, matches our appliances. Good size, we empty it out twice a week into an outside composter. No smell, the carbon filter works very well.

I have had this for a year now, and am still raving! It is the perfect size for my use, and the stainless steel makes it so easy to clean. It holds more than you'd expect! The filter truly works to keep the garbage smell at bay. It is a little large to have actually up on the counter in my small galley kitchen, but I just have it on the floor in the corner, which happens to be right next to where I chop fruits and veggies, and that works fine. Highly recommend.

This sits on our counter right next to the sink, so it's not too far from nose height, especially for my wife. This contains the smell exceptionally well. Ours does get emptied every week to our much larger bin for our weekly waste management compost pickup. And, it isn't big enough for more than a weeks worth of compost for my wife and I, but for us, it's a great size for what we need and to fit on the counter.

Just received our 1.6 Gallon Abakoo Stainless Steel Composter for our kitchen. Well made and looks amazing. The filters received are 4, one group already installed when received; need 2 (one square, one round) for each exchange. The composter is taller and yet thinner to fit on the counter nicely. Should last a long time and keep on looking great.
