Does the charcoal rinse off after first use? I dont want the charcoal, just a very soft childs toothbrush.

I never noticed the charcoal so I’m not sure if it rinsed off after the first use or not. It is the softest toothbrush I’ve ever used. And the shape of the toothbrush allowed for the bristles to get between my teeth more than my other toothbrushes, almost as good as floss. Hope that helped

Are they appropriate for dogs?

They are very soft. I think they would be great for dogs.

Would it be safe for a 3 year old to use this toothbrush?

I don't know about this 1 but the other pack that i bought was the 5 pack all black toothbrushes. They are bad they chipped my tooth yeah it says soft but to me the ones i ordered say soft but ARE NOT SOFT. I recommend you keep looking for something better. Good luck to you and your son.
