Works with 2.5g!
I can't speak directly to the lighning protection as I'm not sure how I'd know, but I can say this is well built AND isn't just gigabit. Between my 2.5g capable switch and PC I'm getting full speed per iperf tests. Very excited that I'm not giving up those speeds, though I'm not sure if it will reduce maximum cable runs or whatnot.

Effective for multiple purposes besides networks
Used for both a weather station and a PoE microwave dish. Although in an enclosure, I had an issue with water intrusion. Caught it, removed the minor corrosion caused by the CAT 6 cable, sealed it up with dielectric grease and it is back in service. Works fine for the installation. Keep in mind that this in not meant to be installed outdoors unless it is in a protective enclosure.

I hope they work well when needed....
Since they are grounded but installed in a plastic cabinet, I also purchased a plug-in grounding wire that they are both now attached to. They seem well built.

No lighting storms yet
Bought this to protect my router from all the lighting in my area, I've lost one router already. This is protecting the CAT5 STP that comes in from the outside Wavelink AC1200 AP. The Wavelink is also grounded directly so I'm really hoping that there's no more Lighting issues. If there's any changes I'll update this review.

Clean & Simple
Great in line protection. It doesn’t impact performance. My only concern is that there is no way to know if it provides protection, until it doesn’t!

You can't afford not to have these on your network entry points!
I wanted to write this review after a real-time incident. I bought these several months ago after I had my whole computer network fried by a surge. I have my buildings connected with shielded direct-burial CAT6 cables. We had a recent close thunderstorm that apparently was close enough to generate a surge in one of the buried cables. The TUPAVCO TP302 PoE+ Gigabit surge device was destroyed, but all of my expensive equipment is fine. So I highly recommend these to protect your network if you have anything that is likely to experience a surge. Note that they must be directly wired to your neutral/bond wire in your building wiring system so that the surge can be shunted to the building ground rods.

Works with my POE ethernet security cameras
After a recent surge over our ethernet network from a nearby lightning strike, I decided to add these to the incoming lines from all the outdoor cameras. The cameras are POE and the protector allows them to work properly after being installed. I haven't seen any issues with the cameras going offline or degrading their throughput. I also tested these on a 500 mbps ethernet connection to my PC and an internet speed test showed that with the protector installed my device was still able to achieve the full speed provided by my ISP. I hope they function well if we encounter another nearby lightning surge in the future. We lost a lot of connected equipment prior to installing these. When installing, I made sure these all had a direct connection to our outside ground rod where the incoming cable TV line is also grounded to help dissipate any future surges.

Appear to be well made, and no reason to believe they won't work
The construction is good. I grounded these using the green/yellow ground wire on a ground bar; it looks like it is also possible to screw them to a grounded surface. Of course, the only way to know if these really work is by destroying them in a lightning strike (or by using expensive test equipment). I didn't do that! I also did not open them up to see what's inside. I was asked to rate their quality "for traveling". I am not sure why. In any event they are not good for traveling since they require screw installation of the ground. They will be ineffective if used without grounding.
