What exact location do you mount it at under the hood ? And at what direction do you point the speaker and lights ?

On my GMC truck and a Mercedes ML 500 I chose a spot near the battery using nylon zip ties on the car I even drilled some very small holes and a battery shroud it was around the battery Pointing the lights in the speaker at the middle of the engine it was a very easy install on both vehicles hope this information helps

I would guess this would work for any animal. Any thoughts on racconns?

I had high hopes. Seem to have worked for awhile, but the mice are back. I haven't seen any squirrels like before. If it makes a difference, my truck sits at times for two weeks. I believe a vehicle driven daily, would have no critter problem with the help of this device.
