Great book with lots of information.

Fun to read and learn about the gold mining history

Just starting out in gold prospecting, enjoyed the book immensely. Contained a lot of grass roots information. Covered and answered many questions I had concerning claims, detection equipment and where to find gold.

There are some good nuggets of info buried within the pages, I found the walkthrough of how to use the LR2000 system for claim finding especially helpful. That being said, the book is not well written. There are tons of basic English errors and the author frequently uses the platform to advocate (at length) some pretty hostile/disrespectful political viewpoints surrounding the legality of river dredging that do not further the stated purpose of the book (educating the reader about how to prospect for gold). This is a great topic for discussion and one I would be very interested to read about, but it should be a standalone topic, should be better researched, and needs to be dispassionately presented. As is, it's out of place, lacking in documented perspective/research and just comes across as the unedited venting of a disgruntled miner.

Well written, easy to read, and full of practical knowledge. The book covers all of the questions of a beginner - equipment, location, technique - and a great deal more. The sparse political commentary was spot on, and frankly it was refreshing to read the authors viewpoint and well reasoned arguments.

Very good book in explaining the why's behind gold being so hard to find. The book shows how to figure out where placer gold should be found. This info will help to find placer gold and the reasons it is found there. Very good book, makes a lot of good sense. Good reading!

Really good book aside from the political diatribe, quite rambling at points.

Descent book for beginners,some ranting and raving about the government but that's fair enough.definitely recommend reading this book if just starting out .that's all from me ,on to the next book. Daverockerman
