Pride & Prejudice & Zombies [Blu-ray] [2016]

PLOT...Five sisters in 19th century England must cope with the pressures to marry while protecting themselves from a growing population of zombies.This is a rather fun original and wildly entertaining zombie movie with a twist, its Jane Austen's classic 19th century tale mixed with modern horror, I'm not a huge Jane Austen fan and wouldn't really frequent her work but with a horror twist its much more exciting, the movie has a really good blend of both types of movies, its great to see a cast of badass young ladies playing the hero's, lots of extremely beautiful actresses with deadly skills and martial arts abilities, there's plenty of action here all on a great budget with plentiful hands on stunts and practical effects where possible by the looks of it, its got some fun amusing bloody violence, not too over the top or gory, the rest of the support cast is great too, there is a tad of humour in places especially from Matt Smith, I rather loved Lily James one of the leads, a stunning woman and a great young actress, the sets and costumes and locations all look spot on, good soundtrack score, hugely entertaining and highly recommended.Watch out for another scene at the end a little way into the credits.Blu-ray picture looks greatFeatures include a gag reel, deleted scenes, and several small featurettes.Region B only, 107-mins, 2016.English language, Subtitles for the hearing impaired.Comes in a cool red case and a slipcover.

Seeing the mixed reviews on here made me hesitant to buy/watch this, but I'm glad I did. The story seemed a little rushed, and I can see why heavy pride and prejudice fans might dislike it, but it was fun. You can see the story is just supposed to be some fun, it's humorous, a bit crazy, and not intended to offend.I quite enjoyed the film, and I had previously read the book, this was toned down and took out some of what I felt were the sillier plot pieces from the book.Only watched it yesterday but I'm sure I'll be watching again in the next few days

Well this is better that Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter but it had to be right? There's not really a great more positivity that I can add to be honest.A relatively bland action/comedy/romance which despite a few chuckles (mostly from the excellent Matt Smith) which isn't really as smart, clever or amusing as the filmmakers seem to think it is. The zombie part of the equation is almost an afterthought and brings little or nothing new to the party in that respect. You'd think there would be so many possibilities and directions to go but every time it feels like things might be slipping into a higher gear, it's a false dawn. On it goes in mostly unmemorable fashion, a one trick pony that feels like a real wasted opportunity to create something a bit more daring and fun.

Love Pride & Prejudice, love this film. It’s very silly but it works as a tongue in cheek film. Lily James is brilliant. It is one of those films you could watch again and again. Funny extras. Worth keeping.

I read the book. It was a kind of dumb fun. There's very little of the dry, sly fun of the books here. The gore and fights are played up but ultimately are underlit and played with a kind of daft tongue in cheek silliness that just never quite comes off. When the action is slowed down and quieter it kind of works, but in the overhyped combat it all seems a little messy. Watch it if you've noting better to do, but wait until it comes to TV.
