Easy application, effective. Would purchase again.
This was easy to apply and effectively killed the Bermuda grass without harming my plants, but I haven't yet found the trick to managing the removal and cleanup of grass (dead or alive) that grows up and in my flowering shrubs. It's perfect for flowerbed cleanup. A little pricey, but now that I've found something that works I'll save all of the money spent experimenting. I applied late summer and didn't have any problems with regrowth, although I would imagine you would have to reapply if you used it throughout the blooming, rainy season. Great quality.

Effective control of Bermudagrass
I have a lawn that is predominantly tall fescue. The prevalent perennial weeds are nutsedge and Bermudagrass. For about the past six years the Bermudagrass has been spreading over increasingly large areas. In August I decided to aggressively combat this perennial weed with an application of Ornamec Over-the-Top. I used the spot treatment formulation: 2.5 fl. oz. of Ornamec plus 0.3 fl. oz. of nonionic surfactant per gallon of water. (I added all 4 fl. oz. of Aqua-Zorb to the contents of the Ornamec bottle and mixed them thoroughly before pouring the mixture in my metering garden sprayer.) I could see a difference one week after the application to the problem areas. The Bermudagrass had stopped growing and was beginning to brown. Within three weeks the Bermudagrass was nearly all brown. I doubt it is dead, however, and I expect to see it revive in the spring. I intend to re-apply Ornamec in the April or May, when Bermudagrass typically emerges from winter dormancy, using the formulation for control in tall fescue: 0.5 fl. oz. Ornamec plus 0.3 fl. oz. nonionic surfactant per gallon water. The downside to my application of the relatively concentrated spot treatment formulation was that it stunted the growth of the fescue (it turned brown in most areas). It took almost two months of watering and fertilizing for the fescue to recover. Also, I had hoped that Ornamec would have some deleterious effect on the smooth crabgrass present in patches in the fescue but there was none. (Smooth crabgrass is named in the list of affected annual weeds.) Bottom line: I recommend Ornamec Over-the-Top. It is worth the cost and it is easy to get good results if you follow the directions explicitly.

Works to kill goosegrass in fescue
Yes, this product works as advertised. To reiterate what others have said here, repeatedly, you have to follow the directions. Yes, the directions can be confusing, but here's what I did and why: My lawn of dwarf tall fescue was invaded this year by goosegrass. By the time I realized what ewas happening, it was too late to do much except hope the fescue won the battle. It didn't. In fact, as the summer went on, the goosegrass gained ground and the lawn went from looking reasonably good to being a weed-infested mess. I contacted the folks who created my grass seed and they gave their opinion on the weed in question and a way to eradicate it without killing the fescue. Ornamec is the consumer version of that herbicide so I researched it and ultimately bought it from Amazon. I immediately mowed the weeds and prepped the solution to be applied by a small 1 gallon hand-pumped sprayer I've used for many other applications over the years. I chose a concentration of 1.5 oz Ornamec along with about 0.3 oz of the surfactant in one gallon of water. I ended up making this solution 5 times to cover the entire area I needed to treat. I waited. Nothing happened for the first several days - and then I left for 8 days. Upon arriving back home I was amazed - the grass was still mostly green and the goosegrass was a dark red. And importantly, the goosegrass had no stems with seeds growing as they had been. I even asked my son who had mowed the grass because nothing had seemingly grown in the two weeks since I had last mowed. His answer was that no one had mowed (which was one of the reasons for seeding with this dwarf tall fescue in the first place)! So while it's still early days with this product, all signs point to success. I will likely treat once more either later this fall or early in the spring to ensure the goosegrass doesn't come back. It will be great to get my lawn back next year. Update: I did treat one more time that year and the goosegrass did not come back. I have a few small pockets of Bermuda that came from who knows where that also "died" at the time. This year the Bermuda is back in those areas so I need to treat again, but after it cools down some I guess. Importantly, though, no return of the goosegrass like a few years ago.

Weed killer for lawns
Not sure if it worked the way I think it should have. It killed most of the crab grass and the Bermuda grass but nothing else.

Controling bamboo with Ornamec
I have been using Ornamec to control bamboo for approx. 5 years. I use it to control both the very invasive low growing bamboo and the some what less invasive tall, clump forming bamboo. My bigest problem has been the low growing bamboo invading gardens. I have used Ornamec to eliminate the low growing bamboo with out harming ornamental plants. Ornamentals include azaleas, iris, periwinkle, mountain laurel, cherry laurel, Japanese maples, etc. In some areas I have also used Ornamec to eliminate runners and small clumps of tall growing bamboo. My impression is that Ornamec is just as good at controlling tall growing bamboo as the low growing type, its just that the low growing bamboo is more invasive and requires more attention. I'm not sure one spraying is enough to kill bamboo, so I usually spray 2 or 3 times. I always use the recommended consentration and the bamboo always dies after 2 or 3 sprayings. I'll continue to use Ornamec because there is a lot of bamboo around my house and yard that has ornamental value so I don't want to eliminate it, but this ornamental bamboo will continue to send rhizomes into garden areas where it is unwanted. Ornamec has proved to be a very effective way to control bamboo.
