I just received this today. I will adjust this review if things change. I've been buying humidifiers for years. Just ditched the ultrasonic (once again) due to the white dust. I am aware that these steam models can be hard to clean if you have hard water. I have cancer and breathing problems, so a humidifier is a must. What I do like is that you can top fill this machine. I filled the tank initially at the kitchen sink and as the water went down during use today, I simply topped it off from the top area with the floating ball. This feature is great. The steam humidifier is equipped with an "oil ring" which allows the use of oils. I purchased Artizen Eucalyptus Essential Oil (pure form) from Amazon and added a few drops to the ring, which is located by the steam vent (1st pic). So far, I like the ease of use. I've left it on "high" for the day and I'm very happy with it. Just some side thoughts concerning all steam humidifiers. They run HOT, so be careful when you are around them or touch them. Allow them to cool down before you attempt to clean them. I suggest turning them OFF when you are not home. Lastly, put it on a table with a towel under it. You won't get the wetness that one gets with the ultrasonics, but be on the safe side and protect your furniture. I did research reviews and all types of steam humidifiers, and found this to be the best one to fit my needs. Remember, this is NOT warm mist, this is hot water which turns into steam. Wade As I promised, I'm back, 1/12/2020, to make some comments. At one point, the humidifier stopped working and showed the "auto shutoff light." It didn't run out of water, the ceramic heating element was covered with rust. This IS what happens with hard water, and apparently I'm hard (if you will). I suggest buying Milliard Citric Acid 5 Pound here on Amazon ($14.49) since it works better than vinegar. If rust is not removed from the ceramic heating core, then it will produce less steam. For all those who complained about the "auto shut off" always "on" it is because there isn't enough water over the heating element. I had this happen to me and I simply poured water, from the pullout container, into the heating element area. (pull the white "stack" out first) An important note: I have had so many humidifiers over the years that even ultrasonics will "auto shut off" even while the tank is visibly full. Sometimes air bubbles or the valve gets stuck. I know everything I have shared might scare people away. You can research "white dust" and dust mites, and you might change your thoughts. Believe me when I say I have tried all kinds of humidifiers. I had a Vick's brand that had an ultra violet light to kill bacteria and that was all well and good, but it required a "wicking" filter and the wicking filter needs to stay wet or it starts to stink. I share this so that people know that most humidifiers have issues, whether it is the stinking wicking filters, the "anti-dust" filters that don't work, or the pure steam clean humidifying that can be a chore to clean. I have town water, yet it is harder now than it was 10 yrs ago. Yes, this needs to be cleaned weekly, but with the right tools and techniques, it will be simple. My second bottle of Eucalyptus oil came today from Amazon. Sleeping has been a dream......literally. I'll be back if I have more to say. W. (sorry Amazon editors). I forgot to mention that I use Mavea water, purchased here as well, "Mavea 10-Cup Water Filter Pitcher" It is like Brita, but better. I have an Amazon Subscription for the new filter delivery. When it is delivered, it reminds me to change it. I'm not sure filtered water will help, but it surely won't hurt.

best darn humidifier. After seven years its still going strong. BUT I am hesitant buying a second one after seeing all the lower ratings are from 2022 on. I moved and have a bigger house so I wanted another one. I only use reverse osmosis water in mine. When it is set to normal I fill it twice in a 24 hour period. If it's on high I pour in a gallon jug 3-5 times a day based on the humidity in the room. Ive learned this is a big factor on the water usage. I use aromatherapy, but not with any humidifier as I prefer to place drops on a disposable cotton piece or kleenex instead of having the oil expire rapidly with heat and create a gooey mess. I run mine weeks on end without getting a red light or turning it off. My humidifier runs mostly non-stop throughout the fall and winter. I clean it once a year and its not bad-probably because I don't use tap water. It usually has a light yellow coating near the heating element at the end of the season that wipes off with a single paper towel. I did once think my daughter had cleaned it and ran it two years in a row without cleaning since she hadn't, and it started looked like some of the pictures in the review. My humidifier is very forgiving and I admit I abuse it, kicking it, dropping it short distances, and knocking it about when I'm not using it. In my last house I ran it next to the fireplace and it kept a 500 sq ft living room/dining room perfect using it on high during the day. That was in Georgia, so the humidity never got super low. Now Im in Michigan in a bigger house, the humidity downstairs is a depressing 27% so I am buying a second one. Upstairs, my humidifier runs non stop in my room on normal and keeps my 250 sq ft bedroom and walkin closet with vaulted ceiling between 38 and 45% when the downstairs kitchen is getting no higher than 34%, even with daily cooking (many soups). Yes, I have several high-low sensors in my house.

I really wanted to like this humidifier. It checked off all the boxes I am looking for. I am tired of ultrasonic humidifiers spewing whatever is in the water into the air. I wanted a good old fashion steam humidifier and to be able to top fill like many of the newer ultrasonic ones. Unfortunately there are only a few steam humidifiers to choose from these days so I was very excited when I came upon this one. The light on the first one that was delivered worked sporadically. Initially we thought it was broken because the light never came on and there was no indication that the humidifier was heating the water up. We left it plugged in for 5 mins and steam finally started coming out. We decided it’s fine if the light doesn’t work as long as it produces steam. We kept it in my kid’s room and when I went to check on him in the middle of the night, I saw a faint blueish glow so the light indicator does work somewhat and my kid preferred to sleep in complete darkness so maybe the light not working was a good thing. The red light did come on when it ran empty. We cleaned it every few days and the process was easier than models from other brands. All was well until about 3 weeks later when we heard a loud crack after I refilled the reservoir. I thought maybe the bookshelf it was sitting had broken or something but didn’t see anything and the humidifier was working. I didn’t want to take it apart since the reservoir was full and the water was hot at the bottom. There was another loud crack when I refilled it the next day. I waited for the water to cool down and took the unit apart to see what’s going on. The heating element had cracked. See accompanying picture. I exchanged the unit for another one. The light in the second one worked out of the box with a bright blue glow. It heated up nicely and worked fine until a week later. It was making banging noises like a radiator starting up. It went away after a running it for a bit. The next morning when I went to get my kiddo up for school, first thing I noticed was a low whistling noise coming from it. Given my past history with the first one- I am packing up the second one for return. So it could have been a great product if it would have worked properly.

I’m so glad I bought this humidifier. I knew I wanted something that was easy to clean, and I didn’t like the idea of spraying non-filtered mineral water into the air (we have a lot of minerals in our water and I can’t filter it fast enough to give it up to the humidifier) but I didn’t want a disposable filter. So that leaves steam humidifiers. I will say that I didn’t inspect the heating element when it arrived but I suspect that it had some mineral deposits on it already because after one use it took several citric acid solution soaks to get it back to normal, and since has not gotten so dirty so quickly. Which leads me to believe they sent me a preowned product. However - it is wonderfully easy to use, easy to clean. It works with my smart plug. I love the essential oil diffuser area. And for my small (10’ x 12’ x 12’) bedroom, it creates a noticeable difference. You have to let it run for awhile first though. I suspect it wouldn’t work as well in a larger space.

This humidifier is very easy to use. It's wonderful that you can either fill it at the sink with the pull-out bucket or you can just open it up and fill it with water using a container of some sort. This humidifier was bought for a decent-sized bedroom. It works wonderful! We keep our doors closed at night and the humidity level is shockingly noticeable once you step outside the bedroom. We live in Las Vegas, the driest city I've ever been in and it has been a life-saver. The warmness isn't overwhelming for summer in my opinion, and it nice and cozy for those nighttime desert chills. Some people have written reviews saying it stopped working after a while. If you read the instruction manual, it says you need to clean it and remove mineral buildup. If you don't, it will stop working until you remove the mineral buildup. This is a great humidifier, you just have to take care of it!

This is a steam vaporizor, which is what I wanted (rather than an ultrasonic humidifier). There really are not many options in the steam category. This unit has some of the best features, including top fill capability and a nice upright footprint. So, it works as advertised, however, it does not put out enough steam to comfortably humidity my 12x12 bedroom. I have the unit on my nightstand and still wake up with dry eyes and nose. This could be improved if it had a much larger water tank and put out a lot more steam. I will probably go back to the old Vics vaporizer. They put out a lot of steam and have a large tank and even though they are impossible to clean they are so cheap you can get a new one every year.

I’ve only had this humidifier for a few weeks, but so far I love it. It’s definitely not meant for an entire house...unless you live with Bilbo Baggins. However, for a small flat or one room, it does a good job (and might help end a long battle against static cling and shock treatment when you pet your cat in the winter). My plants sure like it. This little gem is easy to fill and not spill. Even if you have severe hand tremors, you can manage it without getting water everywhere. I’ve not needed to clean it yet. Perhaps that will inspire a review update. If you’re in need of, or desire, a warm air humidifier, this is a good product upon which to throw down your bucks. I looked all over for a couple of months until I found this and I’m glad I waited. It’s not going to give you Guam-type humidity in your home, if that’s what you’re seeking. Think more like Pensacola early Spring. It’s exactly what I wanted.

I wanted humidifier that is easy to fill and to maintain. It had to be steam in order to prevent growth and spreading of organisms in the water tank as well. This one checked all the boxes. It will need regular cleaning and removing of mineral deposits every month or soo and that is it. In use for 5 years for winter seasons and more than happy. In my opinion worth 5 star when you take in account ease of maintaining, steam and price altogether hard to find better offer.

I really like this. Yes you HAVE to clean it every 1-2 weeks for it to keep working but that is the cost associated with a steam humidifier. Much better for your health then the mist ones. Also does not leave that white residue on your floors like the mist ones if you use tap water. Cleaning is easy, just soak the bottom of the unit in pure vinegar for half day and then gently wipe away. The unit itself surprisingly does not get hot but I still keep it up high away from pets and kids. Highly recommended

I bought an ultra-sonic last year which threw mineral deposits all over the floor, on the furniture, on the walls, even inside the cupboards! We had to change our furnace filters 2 - 3 times a month as the white mineral deposits plugged the furnace filters tight!! This year, I bought this non-ultrasonic humidifier, and it works awesome, no white deposits all over, and it works very nicely. I am thinking of buying a 2nd one as it is a good one. Only thing I would like on this model would be a 3rd setting (medium), but other than that, I would recommend this humidifier as it seems to work great!

It was working fine and I was using it in my baby’s room for 2 weeks. Been top filling it so didn’t get to look under the water tank until I decided to clean it after 2 weeks of use. Shocked to see the brown/orange color water under the tank and tried to rince it out, then found the debris of black metallic particles. Opened the bottom part to find the serious corrosion of the metal part (not sure what it’s called.. but I am guessing this is the heating part..?) I am worried about the health hazard of this defective machine and will contact the manufacturer to investigate..

Easy to use, limited volume of steam suitable for smaller rooms like bedroom. Only use filtered water but still get the following problem -Clean daily and soak with vinegar for 30 minutes minimum or will have built-up around heating element reducing steam PLUS vapor spout discolored very quickly after 1 month and molds if not cleaned immediately after unit has stopped. Vapor spout looks like starting to crack from heat.
