Acclaim 5367BK/CL Acorn Collection 1-Light Post Mount Outdoor Light Fixture, Matte Black

It looks good, but is very cheaply made and packed even worse. The packing was terrible for a product of this type. The Post Office had managed to crush the top of the very cheap cardboard box, causing the top of the fixture to crack the plastic around the top hole and make the parts come loose. The box had to be re-sealed by the carrier. Thank goodness he did, or the little bag of parts that was loose in the box would have fallen out with the rest of the parts. There were no instructions on how to put it together - I think I got it right, and the top metal part just covered the area broken in shipping.On thing that bothers me still is that when it rains, the plastic globe will draw the water right down into the metal housing - there are no holes to let the water out. This can't be good. I will likely drill a series of small holes around the base for drains.The other thing is that the socket sits VERY low in the fixture, so a normal bulb is nearly at the bottom, cutting the light dispersion significantly. I ordered some "Bulb Extenders" to raise the bulb up to about the center of the lens where the light will be better spread.

My house was built in the '50s and the city promised streetlights since the '80s; well we know how that goes. Neighbors also don't turn on lights. Well, a DUI took place in my yard and a parked black car landed in my front yard and driveway. I wanted a acorn style since the surrounding neighborhoods had them and they had that "leave it to beaver" and "la la land" suburban vibe. Stuck a 5600 Lumen corn light bulb in it and looks great. I know the globe will turn yellowish, but, they all do overtime if you look downtown. I cannot find a glass acorn anywhere; probably a safety hazard. I would of loved the price to be $40-50 since is the globe plastic. Looks great though, the base has some ornamentation. Got the post from Lowes for like $60.

Looks good when new. Yellows over time. Ours was 4 years old and needed replacement it was yellow and the plastic was breaking down
